Ad-HOC client support for Gingerbread?

I am using Blue Ginger v4 and so far I am unable to patch it with the ad-hoc patch for froyo from xda-developers. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754961

In recovery, the error says that the packing method is older.

If anybody here tell me how to enable ad-hoc support with my phone so that I can connect it to laptop and use the shared internet connection.

Also, how will I be able to setup proxy settings on my android phone?

Thank You

The 'packing is older' - I have never heard of it but will write down this much, sounds like the file that you pulled down from xda thread, is based on the amend scripting which is quite old and thus not usable on the newer clockworkmod.

Blue Ginger is based on the Gingerbread ROM 2.3, and thus, apply the patch to the source and recompile?

Ask Burstlam or wbaw for their advice and see if it's worthy of doing.

On the other hand, it should be noted that the thread seems to be quite old - and that the author of that patch has not done much to the patch since then.

The patch dates back to the old Froyo ROM 2.2 sources, so it may not be viable unless there's a facility within CM7 (that either I am not aware of or do not know!) but post #247 on that xda thread seems to confirm it...?! And also post #244 on that same said thread may have it ready for GB rom's...

Why do you want to use the ad-hoc mode ?

Install connectify (free) in laptop.

This app create a hot spot. Connect your blade like if the laptop was a router.

App share the internet connection to any wifi device.

:)

Also connectify won't work with my laptop's 3G mobile internet dongle.
