Applications moved to SD card do not work.

Hi,

I am new to this forum, and have only had my Vega for a week, and it is also my first Android device.

Over all I am more than happy with it, but I do have one problem.

If I move an installed application to the SD-card (using Settings- Applications- Manage applications, then "move to SD card") the application will either then come up with the message "Application not installed on your phone" the next time I try to run it, a few minutes later

OR

it will say the same error after a power down and power up.

It is version 2.2, Corvus5 Rom (came on the device, was a second hand purchase).

This is really rather irritating as it renders the SD-card redundant.

I will point out that I bought a new 32Gb SD card after I bought the Vega, as it only came with a 4Gb card.

Thanks in advance.

try the same thing with the 4gb card as it is most probably a fault with the 32gb cards a lot of these have given members problems, If you get the same fault with the 4gb then its obviously not the card.

also did you format the 32gb card with your pc or the vega as i found formatting and partitioning with clockwork mod was the only way i could get my vega to read my 16gb with no issues

good luck

Thanks for the reply.

I did not format the card at all, I just took the 4Gb one out and copied it's contents onto the new on using my PC.

So now for a noob question. How do I format the card with CWM?

From memory, it's on the front screen, "Partition Menu". Give yourself about 1GB for Ext2, no swap.

Attempts to format the 32Gb card failed.

Seems Android/Vega/Corvus5 does not like 32Gb cards for some reason (you said a 16Gb card was a struggle to get working), as the card works fine in file manager for data storage, or on my PC as a USB mass-storage device.

4Gb card back in device, and moved apps now (seem) to run OK.

Thanks!

As a side question, I have been looking into how to create an EXT2 partition on an SD card, and have to ask....

WHY is it so faffing HARD & expensive to DO!!

No wonder stuff gets pirated, hacked and cracked!

I wish to format a 600 MB partition on an sd card to EXT2, and it is the next best thing to impossible.

SO android developers, develop an app to do it.

It's not rocket science, it is a File system.

Last time I checked Easeus partition manager was free for home users and creates an ext2 partion quite easily if you stick the card into the reader on your pc

I got a class 10 16gb micro sdhc card as it's half the price and twice the speed of the 32gb cards

Thanks, after a lot of searching before you posted I found the Easeus partition manger you recomended, and downloaded it.

It did the trick, so I thought I should post back to say that it worked, and I can now use my 32Gb card.

Thanks!
