This is tempting. I went for a cheap case but it feels very cheap indeed and adds too much thickness. Might consider this one...

Not sure what that official one really protects though! The plastic back?

I guess it might raise the edge, so the front isn't in direct contact when you lay it face down.

It protects the rear and sides of the phone, adds a little protection to the front and also adds protection to the camera by adding a small (approx 1mm tall) lip around the camera. I have broken my case dropping it on the floor, part of the case that runs down the edges of the screen took the brunt of the drop so I can say in all honesty it works.

I also have a "genuine" white case bought from ebay (item 300568426915), this is a poor fit, is not identical to the samsung branded case I bought, doesn't carry samsung branding and the finish of product is poor in comparison to the samsung branded item. The seller was most indignant when I pointed this out, however...

I bought the other samsung genuine case. the leather-ette one with the full flap which closes magnetically. Fits well.
