Advent Vega cannot find position on google maps

Hello

I have installed many roms on this new tablet, now I'm working with the r8 which is nice and fast. But every time I use some localisation software, even if I'm connected with wifi to my home router, it is not possible to localize the position: so, google maps cannot find in which area I'm, neither weather software can automatically detect the position where I'm.

Does someone know how to fix this? Do I need the 3G module (which actually is not mounted?)

Thanks

Stefano

In the absence of GPS on the Vega, you can use the "My Fake Location" app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.my.fake.location&feature=search_result to fool your tab into knowing where it is. :D

Having just d/loaded this app myself just wonder how you actually set your own location ??

its go " set gps location " and " stop and exit "

map looks like a strret map of new york on it ?? how do I set my own home town ??

thanks

You have to scroll around the world via the map shown by the fake location app. i just zoomed out found uk and then zoomed in again to find my road. once you find your location just hit the set location button and you will get a symbol in the top bar of vega screen to show all is setup and running then you run maps and it knows your location. you only have to do this once and then every other time just run fake location app hit set location and then run maps or earth and your location that you set first time you ran fake app will show as its saved on vega.

hope this helps.

jason.

Go to www.google.co.uk and then select the 'Maps' option at the top of the screen. Enter your postcode and then right click the mouse when you've moved your cursor to the accurate location of your house. Select 'Centre Map Here' then right click the mouse again and select 'What's Here?' and a pop-up photo will appear in the lefthand column (assuming you have had the Streetmap vehicle around) and at the same time the GPS co-ordinates of your location will appear in the search box.

Copy these values to My Fake Location left value to top box right value to bottom box then click 'Set GPS Location' and your location should now appear in the map at the bottom of the screen. Done ! ;)

it is worth pointing out here that Roms from 2.3 onwards i.e CM7 and vegacomb have the geolocation working, so maps, weather etc all find your location through the wifi , and very accurately too :D , this is the prime reason i have stuck with cm7 and not corvus5
