Hi All.

I bought a new ZTE Blade in Poland so I have a Gen1,is there a system in version 2.1update1 ,I wanted to install a version 2.3.x but I have a problem with the GEN2.

At the beginning I've downloaded Gen1-to-Gen2-TPT-v4 (2mb cache, 160mb system, 294mb data ) from the Polish forum, I made GEN2 (menu+vol+) then I installed rom Ginger Stir Fry 2.3.4. the system started but after a while there has been a restart , I tried 3 times. Later I installed a few other rom's (CM7, Blue Ginger 5, etc...) always was system restart or system does not get up , only android logo. I went back to Gen1 and stock 2.1update1 everything works.

I downloaded package from this forum (i checked md5):

 Gen1-to-Gen2-TPT-v8-custom.zip

Partitions: 2mb cache, 160mb system, 294mb data, 0.1mb oem

I did again GEN2 (menu+vol+) , I wanted to install CM7 but the system does not properly install the progress bar did not move,I waited 20min.

Later I installed a few other rom's but but none of them did not want to get up ,always only android logo ( I waited 20min).

I did again GEN1 and i installed Portuguese Spring RLS4 [GEN1,GEN2] everything works fine.

Please help me, needs GEN2.

Upgrade to the latest Rom Manager and download the latest Clockwork Recovery.

When you flash the newest version, if you are on GEN1 you will not be able to enter it. Download the GEN2 conversion zip from here and follow the instructions.

If you are on GEN2 you will then be able to enter Clockwork Recovery, the rest is easy enough.

that's curious. Do you mean that clockwork freezes while installing your ROM?

You can try to upgrade to Gen2 using this method, in case it helps you (you can try the stock Gen2 layout aswell). Its not as safe/easy as TPT but it may work.

I'm sure you have also done this, but did you extract the .zip and place the image folder in the root of the SD card?

@ ididmytime - but I've used this method:

Gen1 to Gen2 TPT upgrade No Windows needed, faster, easier, safer...

Gen1-to-Gen2-TPT-v8-custom.zip

Partitions: 2mb cache, 160mb system, 294mb data, 0.1mb oem

I put the folder "image" on the top, hold menu and vol+ ,then I see the green text.

@ hedgepigdaniel - it's very strange, I did not see that anyone had a similar problem, as you say the second method is not safe especially for someone who uses the android few days, I am a little afraid, use other methods. Clockwork (3.0.2.x) did not want to install CM7 .

Maybe I need to do Gen1-to-Gen2-TPT-v8-stock , but no one wrote that some models need partition in standard sizes.

There is an all in one gen2 upgrade + gsf on the gsf thread. I recommend trying that out.

Yesterday I tried this:

Ginger Stir Fry Beta 17 Gen1 to Gen2 Upgrade TPT

gsf-blade-b17-tpt.zip

Restart after starting.

later:

Gen1-to-Gen2-TPT-v8-stock.zip

Partitions: 37mb cache, 210mb system, 204mb data 4mb oem

I installed several versions of 2.3 . each of them starts up but for the moment, restart.

The only thing I can think of is try another microSD card. I'm stumped as to why your phone isn't allowing an upgrade.

If worse comes to worse, and you cannot for whatever reason upgrade your phone to gen2, you should still be able to convert a CM7 kernel to run on a GEN1.
