Hello dear users of Modaco

Yesterday, my Blade just lost signal out of nowhere. And I can't choose any operator since. When I manually choose the operator, it says, that it can't connect at the moment. But I can call emergency numbers, and they dial out, so the antenna can't be the problem. Also in system, I can always see at least 13 asu as signal strength (don't know what that is). So basically it's only problem is, that it can't connect to the network. (I tried all 3 operators [Hungary])

At first, I thought it was the softwares' fault, so I wiped everything, and reinstalled the ROM. But it didn't change. Then I thought, maybe the IMEI got blocked, but appearently, it did not. After that, I was thinking, maybe it was the APN settings, but that didn't work out either. Finally I thought, it had to be the radio, so I even installed a TPT, but still no luck. I'm starting to think, it's hardware fault(maybe the SIM slot). So please, if someone can, help me!

specs:

ZTE Blade BABT (British Approvals Board of Telecommunications) debranded

Gen 2 (from Gen 1)

tried almost every rom: Stock 2.2 Telenor, CM, GSF, Blue Ginger, Elitemovil, Swedish Spring Rls4b and all of them are GEN 2

thanks in advance

What ROM are you on at the moment?

Its hard to tell exactly what's wrong here but am suspecting hardware fault? Was the handset dropped on to ground by any chance?

The phone wasn't dropped, and currently It's Swedish Spring. But if it really is hardware, then which part? Maybe I could replace it? Or it would be the whole motherboard?

Ok :)

Good that it wasnt influenced by hard-knocks. :) Great! \o/

Now, last final question, you did wipe cache/data prior to flashing the ROM?

If you have, and still getting no network operator, try this Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile networks > Network Operators, tap on 'Search networks', does it show? If it does, then tap on 'Select automatically'

I wiped everything. And I already tried automatically select, but with no luck. :(

Okie...

Last question - you have tried another sim card? If that works then the sim card is the problem, if not....

sounds like hardware fault at the least!

Still under warranty, return it back?

Unless somebody else has a better suggestion?

One remaining last question:

Did you unlock the handset prior to flashing when you first got the Blade?

Now I'm not sure, but I think, that I unlocked it first, but it has been working since march. I really really hope that you have an answer.

Okie, since you did not state swapping the sim-card for another - did that work or not?

I tried 3 different SIMs. One for each operators.

If I reverted back to GEN 1. Could that help?

Cannot answer that unfortunately but now that you said it... am wondering if your IMEI number got wiped out somehow hence no operators available... A quick check in Settings > About Phone > Phone Information, there should be an IMEI number listed in there...

You do have the original IMEI, its underneath the battery, might need to re-insert the said IMEI number into the handset again... (this is where things can go wrong) but have a read up on this.

BUT do not try it...!!!!

Might be best for you to open up another thread - how to restore an IMEI if this is the case. It could have been a bad flash to Gen2 at some point on prior occasion and that clobbered your IMEI hence no operator pickup reception?

The IMEI is the same.

edit: Actually, there are two IMEIs, the IMEI, and the IMEI SV.

You can safely disregard the IMEI SV. Its the former that is more the key point here...

Does the IMEI look like a healthy number? i.e. there's no string of O's pre-pended or post-pended, like this

0000xxxxxxxxxxx

pre-pended ^^^^

or

xxxxxxxxxxx0000

post-pended ^^^^

If either of those are in there - definitely a bad TPT Flash when you went from Gen1 to Gen2....then you may have to go down the "debrick route" to get that back...

It's the same as whats on the side of the box. Definitely the right IMEI.

Report: WORKS

As it would have it, after 5 days of well earned rest, my phone works. I didn't do anything to it, except, my father kind of rendered the screen useless (now there are hundreds of little bubbles inside the LCD, hopefully they will come out after a few months...), while trying to help, and bathing the phone in contact spray. I'm not sure if that helped, or the drying process, or just letting it rest.

But all in all, it works, and I'm very happy for it.

So if you have the same problem, just let the phone rest. If it still not works, give it some contact spray. Still not working? Then it's for you to find out. :D
