Guest maltloaf Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 just gave this a quick look. Seems very slick and smooth on first look, you have made some great leaps forward it seems, good work. I can't spend too long on it today as I need my tablet tonight, so have reverted back to Corvus5 for now, but will give this a nice long test tomorrow. Nice work guys, maltloaf
Guest derffie Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 SEXY!!!! Thanks so much, I'ver lurked watching all tthe hard work that has been going into this by so many tallented people, its what, 2, 3 months so far and you have done so much, developers for OEM devices don't more as quick as this, inspiring stuff indeed. Thanks again.
Guest diamondgar Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Great work guys, it looks really good from youtube clip. Im going to wait until CWM is available since its a bit of a pain to use nvflash for me.
Guest Kevrae Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Really impressed with the speed haven't had any crashes yet. The overall feel of the from is great very speedy. I have found that if you have to hard reset then switch back on the speakers give out a big scratch (almost cacked myself first time lol). Have noticed while playing captain America game it doesnt feel quite as smooth as say eg corvus5.

What CPU speed do you run Corvus5 on? i normally run corvus5 at stock 1ghz, dont get me wrong i really like the speed of the interface i think if rotation, cwm and reboot was working i would probaby stick with it as i use my vega mostly for browsing and forums, which even now it does very well.
Guest xathras Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Just a very quick test (looong day - have to hit the sack soon). 1) From VegaComb1.7 (backup everything) -> modded stock ROM v2 -> clockworkmod -> do the 3 wipes -> install Test43-RC3 from zip -> boot into VegaComb (first boot long, as usual) -> turn on wifi -> start stock browswer -> BBC news page -> Flash not found ->sign into market -> install Flash 10.3 -> back to BBC news page -> try to play news channel -> instant off (CRASH). 2) Wait for 30 secs -> boot back into VegaComb (no problems) -> wifi auto-started -> back into stock browser ->BBC news page again -> news channel plays but no sound -> check sound settings, they're on high -> goto tvcatchup -> login and select Channel 5 -> starts o.k. with sound this time (?) -> select full screen -> fullscreen plays o.k.(except for Honeycomb status bar - grrr!) -> wait 30 minutes -> still playing o.k. with no lip synch problems. 3) Switch off -> goto bed. More tomorrow.

Might need to hold power for about 2 seconds to get it to work! newbe5

Guest BillyBobJoe Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Yea, could take a reboot or two to settle, might not be 100% on first ever boot ;) newbe5, Did you make the suggested change to the vold to use the shuttle-sdhi? I found that got things to work on first boot...but many other issues in the kernel still to be worked out. The chance of full honeycomb is still a little way off especially with all the memory problems. Billy..

Guest Bunjit Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 Gorgeous! Smooth as butter for me apart form the clock keeps resetting to 00:00 01:00 after a reboot. Date always resets to 1/2/1970. My Vega's Flux capacitor wants to go back to the future! B) Tried various combinations of automatic date/ time Rechecking automatic date/time sets it back correctly.
Guest rubbery Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 I used this for about 2 hours last night and I am typing this on the train on the way to office after using it for another hour this morning and I have to say it's the best hc build I've used after being on every single one of newbie's roms. There are little issues as you'd expect but overall it is great. I have seen: * Crackle on sound on reboot * Clock and date getting reset * Clock and battery icon etc disappear after coming out of long sleep I have also seen: * Flash working perfectly * Great peformance * IMDb app working * Not one FC Great work!

Guest Yogimax Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 (edited) First off - great job from the team!! Some observations: 1 As stated already, doesn't retain date/time if you are no longer in a WiFi area on reboot. This will prevent the market app opening properly if the times don't match. 2 SD card not mounting correctly - ES File Explorer can see the SD card and files, but Link2SD, Titanium Backup, ROM Manager etc can't see the card and all prompt to mount it. 3 Hardware video acceleration now working - now able to run Plex and stream videos under VegaComb for the first time :D 4 Volume - Oh the volume! In my kitchen I have my Vega rigged up to a set of speakers on full volume to make up for the Vega's puny sound. This morning I fired up the Vega on about 25% volume and the sound that came out was loud enough to wake a corpse (my 18 year old son who doesn't understand the concept of being upright in the Ante Meridian (AM)) B) 5 WiFi - seems more responsive and quicker to pick up hot spots! As a BT customer I have access to BT Openzone/fon hotspots. My Vega picked up a hotspot and was online 2 minutes before my Desire was able to! 6 Playing Video locally - mVideoplayer sees videos on my SD card, then tells me it isn't mounted! The actual video playing itself (720P MP4) is a bit jerky but watchable - possibly due to SD card not being mounted properly? Great job all round - I'll put up any other observations later. Guest windin101 Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 So far in addition to the issues reported already 3G is not working I am unable to change the Brightness, the slider moves but has no effect on screen brightness Aldiko will import books but when trying to open them says they cant be found, I assume this is to do with the SD card issues already reported
Guest chrisrich85 Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 So far so good as far as performance goes. SD will not mount in Titanium but i can see it in file manager - its almost as if its become part of the file system rather than seen as external storage. Flash works great as does the browser Keep working on it guys :)
Guest mudcruzr Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 Used it for about three hours last night and saw: The date/time on reboot thing. A little bit of jerkiness when swiping screens, but flash is buttery biscuit base smooth Jerkiness also in News360 in 360 mode Adobe Air did install OK for me I can't download anything "USB storage is required to download filename.ext" (Stock Browser) - I have a 16Gb SD card Lock screen says "connect charger" when it's sitting on it's dock (a/c connected) and the battery is at 100% I tried the "Traffic" widget and it force closed maps Smartbench 2011 gave me 3030/1757 in full screen (compatibility mode off). GLJellyfish is quite laggy. To get back to landscape from portrait mode (that smart bench leaves the tablet in), just open market. lovin' it - mud
Guest Mouli Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 Brightness has been the big problem for me. My screen starts to flicker at high brightness. I knew that from the beginning but didn't want to return my vega as the developers were working at an amazing pace :) The brightness seems to be set to high by default in this rom and there is no way of changing it. This causes my screen to flicker constantly making the rom unusable as of now. It would be great if the brightness control was restored. Thanks. So far in addition to the issues reported already 3G is not working I am unable to change the Brightness, the slider moves but has no effect on screen brightness Aldiko will import books but when trying to open them says they cant be found, I assume this is to do with the SD card issues already reported
Guest rebeldx Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 is anybody else getting a server error when tryin 2 access the market?? n if so, how do i get around it??
