Can the Vega become a Kiosk tablet?

I'm looking to get a tablet device which can run Kiosk Browser (on the market) or any other alternative anyone can suggest - basically running a web browser that disables address entry, and basically does NOT allow the user to do anything else but work on the existing page.

Other tablets are slightly useless as they have soft keys, or keys on the front frame which let the user quit the application/go back to the homescreen.

I know the Vega has 'hard' buttons on the side, but I can hide those in a frame. By doing so, will I be able to have a full 'kiosk' experience, or are there other ways of exiting to home? If so, can these be disabled easily?

Thanks!

If the application runs in full screen and you block the buttons then the only way to go back to the homescreen is if the app crashes. I've seen Vega clones (Viewsonic Viewpad 10s, the same tablet I have) used as a kiosk a few months ago, seemed to work just fine (they were used in an expo in Buenos Aires, Salon del Automovil, but didn't block the top buttons so some of them were on the homescreen or even the camera). Remember that even the stock ROM has soft buttons on the notification bar, so the application you want to use must be always on fullscreen.

Kiosk Browser works on the vega, no problem. You need to make sure however that it runs full-screen (by default is shows the notification bar that includes the back- and home buttons). You'll need to block access to the hard buttons though.

Thanks for this. Got my Vega and it's working brilliantly.

One issue though - I don't want the screen to switch itself off (as I'm blocking the hard buttons) - but in Settings/Display there's no option for "never" time out. Is there an app or setting anyone can recommend?

On Corbus5.1.

Thanks.

If you keep it plugged in there is a setting to never sleep, it's in Settings - Applications - Development. Not sure if there's another way.
