Guest skifyr123 Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) Hi all, I managed to install Ubuntu on my Huawei Ideos X5 following THIS guide. It's relly cool and you can use WIFI to browse Mozilla. But I have a problem with the keyboard, it works but is way off normal. Like when i type "d" "f" shows up and so on, so the keyboard is impossible to use. Luckily there's a solution and you're supposed to do this to get it work: In VNC’s xstartup file: $HOME/.vnc/xstartup You have to add the line export XKL_XMODMAP_DISABLE=1 before /etc/X11/Xsession I think you have to do this in cmd, because when I go to /data/local/ubuntu/root/.vnc/xstartup the file is 97 bytes, but empty. Anyway this is how Ubuntu looks like on Huawei Ideos X5: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=8SaoneDtNqA Edited August 4, 2011 by skifyr123
Guest skifyr123 Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 (edited) I found a better Ubuntu boot-file which works for our phone. It is MUCH faster ( x5 at least ) and pre-installed with many programs. I even found a way to connect the phone to PC, for using th laptop screen as a screen for Ubuntu. And keyboard works :D Check Out This Video! : http://www.youtube.c...h?v=KUG9aC_tH5s Find the files and instructions here: Ubuntu for Ideos x5 Edited August 7, 2011 by skifyr123

Guest skifyr123 Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 Im stuck in "booting ubuntu" part. using the fast with preinstalled apps. Little more specific? you navigate to the ubuntu folder and type "sh ubuntu.sh"? wait 15 sec and use androidvnc.. works for me :D
Guest Jetba Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 Okay, so I start my terminal app, do su, cd /sdcard/ubuntu, sh ubuntu.sh Then it starts booting it. i w8 15min, and still booting. when i try to connect with following info: 127.0.0.1:5009 and pw ubuntu It comes upp with following "conection refused". there. tried 3 different terminal apps. Well, maybe miui doesn't support looping?
Guest skifyr123 Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 (edited) Thats weird.. If you look at the video you can see I'm using MIUI. I see you use the port 5009, it is supposed to be port 5900 I think, if that matters. I will try again on the latest MIUI release ;) e. and there is no need to wait 15 min, 15 seconds is long enought :) e2. Works for me on 20/8/11 MIUI release. The port 5009 does NOT work :D use port 5900 Edited August 22, 2011 by skifyr123
