sky email problems on vega ??

Hi asking this on behalf off dad who is in the process off getting his own Vega set up exactly how he wants it , now that Simonta has worked his magic on it ( corvus 5+sp1 etc ) - tnx again simon !!

okay he is having problems getting his own email via the vega`s email app ( non gmail ) he has put his email address in which is a sky account and double checked his sky account password and made sure it has been put in 100% correct but still the server has problems connecting to the server.

can anyone else here who uses sky email confirm there exact settings ie. port / impa /pop3 etc /security type etc to enable the vega to connect to the email server and will pass the info onto him ??

Hiya, this may help, taken from sky to setup outlook, principles are the same,

User Information:

- Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of outgoing messages.

- Email Address: Enter your full Sky Email address ([email protected])

Server Information:

- Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.tools.sky.com

- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.tools.sky.com

Login Information:

- User Name: Enter your Sky Email username (including @sky.com)

- Password: Enter your Sky Email password

Perfect will pass the info on , I think it will possibly be them pop3 / SMTP settings that were at fault.

If I go into Accounts - Account and sync I have the first two boxes ticked ie.background data and auto -sync, then undernaeth that I have manage accounts and it has my gmail account - sync is on

nothing as far as accounts have to be set up here with regards adding the sky email address ?? never done it on mine and my btinternet email comes thru okay but just wonder if there is something he has missed that I could pass on ??

will get him to try the above sky email settings thou hopefully that should work !!
