Auto-Rotation & Wi-Fi Troubles

Hello i have a TFT, GEN1 (now upgraded with TPT to GEN2), Orange San Franscisco. Bought it in Switzerland, directly from Orange.

So with the stock rom auto-rotate worked perfectly, even in the home screen (i could rotate it). Then i rooted it and installed Swedish Spring RLS5 to get FroYo.

Everything was fine, but auto-rotation stopped working with ALL the apps (i checked the settings, but they said it was on.. :S)

So i reinstalled a stock rom, but the auto--rotation still didn't worked. Then i upgraded my device to GEN2 and installed

CyanogenMod 7.0.3 still everything fine, but no auto-rotation.

I thought my sensor was broken. But then i got it working, by flashing Swedish Spring RLS5 and Swedish Spring RLS5 Softbank Kernel.

But since i liked the cyanogenmod a lot, i wanted it on my device. So i re-installed CM 7.0.3 but this time i installed also the New Kernel from here http://android.modac...ost__p__1748564

And every works EXCEPT the freakin auto-rotation. Is there any issue, or updated kernel or drivers or fixes for my problem???

Thanks very much to everyone :)

UPDATE:

I also noticed that with CM 7.0.3 + new kernel. Wi-Fi doesn't work, for a long the phone says "Gettin IP address" and then wi-fi stops, the icon disappears and it doesn't connect.

PS if I'm not the first who have this problem and other topics are already open, i'd appreciate if you could give the links

So to get the Accelerometer working on Swedish Spring you need to install the softbank kernel. (Make a backup, beacause you're gonna flash a new mod)

1) You boot in recovery

2) wipe cache & data (factory reset)

3) when you choose "install from .zip file" FIRST you install Swedish Spring RLS5 mod, THEN you choose one more time a .zip file and this time you flash the Softbank Kernel

You can download the softbank kernel from here

But as far as I know this is the ONLY way you get your auto-rotation working, with Cyanogenmod for me there was NO way to make it work. I still hope someone could help to fix the problem with CM

Well seems your wife was lucky, anyway if you wanna have back your phone workin properly the only way I know it works is written above.

At the moment i'm trying all the most recent nightlies, but it still seems there CM won't work (for me)

Set a static ip in settings->wireless and networks->wifi settings->advanced (i think, im not using cm7 at the moment).

Some routers, especially bt home hubs dont like the dhcp libs of some roms and refuse to talk to the phone unless a static ip is used.

The last time i tried cm7 it had this issue and it was solved by doing the above.

I tried out the cm_blade_full-163.zip nightly and it works perfectly...just make sure you follow the wiping steps to the letter

This problem has been fixed from nightly build CM151 onwards, see http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=4177&q=blade&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Version%20Model%20Network%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars%20Priority where it has been discussed.

I tried the update 163 that cynixe mentioned, and indeed for me the problem has been fixed as well. I had 7.1.0 RC1 before, and only did cache wipe, not a full wipe, and then applied cm_blade_full-163, and now all apps and data are still there and seem to work fine, and the auto-rotation finally works!

I'm so satisfied that it works now (as well as the bubble app :-). Thanks so much to developer Tom who fixed this.

Hi there, and thanks for the advice. I installed SS5 followed by the software Kernel and it produced an error saying gen 2 only.

I still have a Balde which won't auto rotate - any further suggestions most welcome

Thanks Stephen

Oops - stupid me!! See you upgraded to gen 2!!! Not sure I want to do that - still a bit of a newbie!
