Guest Kallisti Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Slightly annoying one this time, SMS messages coming in with GSM standard "store and display" flags seem not to get displayed.. They just go straight into the SIM. Discovered this when writing an SMS app for a customer, and getting confused with the lack of SMS, until I imported from SIM! On the bright side, it probably means you'd get less junk texts to the phone as many of the bulk SMS providers will flag like this. Just a quick poll addendum as well :)
Guest Bazz Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 You sure it's specifically to do with that flag? This is a common bug with SMSes on the SPV, though I haven't had the problem since I first did an Import from Sim.
Guest Kallisti Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 I believe it's that flag combined with the "to sim" flag (you can have to display, to sim and to phone I think... Not sure how it all works as I work on a higher level than that, and I can't be bothered to look up the GSM standards!
Guest Bazz Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Errr... then surely it's doing what it's told! The only problem is that the phone doesn't alert you when there's a message on the SIM - which is a known bug.
Guest Kallisti Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Not exactly, the flag states "save and display", the flip side of that flag AFAIK is simply save, or simply display. So it should not only shove it on the SIM, but also display it regardless.
Guest Bazz Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Ah gotcha. So basically you've got the following options: Display Display and save to SIM Display and save to phone And the display part don't work. Ah well I've no idea about GSM so I'm gonna quietly leave this thread...
Guest madu Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 And the other part of the bug is that the SMS cannot be deleted from the SIM! So every time you get one of those it takes another phone to erase the txt. On a Sony Z5 I had an option of sending messages: - Display only - SIM - Phone Where Display only would come up on the screen as actual message contents, sim would send it to sim (max 10 msgs) and phone would send it to phone memory if there is such, else all goes to SIM. Ofcourse you are alerted when any of these are received (not on SPV). I now import my messages from sim a few times a day just to make sure i have missed none.. Doh!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Don't forget you can still post bugs by posting them in this section, with a subject starting Bug: If the bug is confirmed, let me know, and i'll move it to BugTrack. P
