which rom is the best one out to flash?

and is it better to convert from gen 1 to gen 2?

My preference for the general user would be swedish spring rls5 on either gen1 or gen2. There doesnt seem to be much real benefit for converting to gen2 unless its to solve specific issues.

For newer gingerbread roms such as Ginger stir fry or Cyanogenmod 7 conversion to gen2 is a requirement. These give better performance, at the expense of greater battery drain on games over froyo roms such as swedish spring.

Then I went to GSF, but found that it simply does not give the same user experience as SS 5.

So, I am back on SS 5 for the foreseeable.

Perhaps the MC/Skate will give better 2.3 ROM

Have you guys tried cm7 as well as gsf? i've been using cm7 for a couple months now and tried gsf yesterday. found it too 'bland' in comparison. switched to gen2 and the latest nightly of cm7.

froyo is definitely one step behind. maybe i just like the 'gadgety' feel of cm7 but it sure does feel like a newer generation of os compared to 2.1/2.2.

If you are looking for an everyday rom (with good battery backup), I would go with GSF 14.

There are a few known bugs. However, wbaw is working on the latest update which should be out in a couple of days!!!
