Blade issues automatically connecting to head unit via Bluetooth

I have a Pioneer DEH-P70BT car head unit which I used to take calls whilst driving. This was no problem with my old phones (Nokia and Sony) but when I got my OSF it wouldn't connect automatically via Bluetooth. The only way I can get it to connect is to make the OSF discoverable each time I get into the car - which isn't really practical. Having a look around it seemed that the reason was because the head unit had an old version of bluetooth.

Anyway - I lost my Nokia (which I used as my method of making calls) and decided to try to use the OSF as my main phone. I bought a Pioneer DEH-7300BT which I know "works" with other Android phones. I now don't need to make the bluetooth discoverable after the initial pairing but it doesn't pick up my OSF automatically. I have to click on the paired device on my OSF in the Bluetooth settings (where it says Paired but not connected. I am pretty sure that once paired the phone and the head unit should automatically connect as long as Bluetooth is on on my OSF. This is correct isn't it? I tested my OSF on another 7300BT in Halfords and it was the same so it is not a faulty head unit.

So - is it my OSF? Is it my firmare (FLB 11)? Am I missing a setting somewhere? I can try loading other firmware but I thought I would solicit any advice/experiences first.

I have also read that CM7 has a definable Bluetooth discoverable timeout. Is this true and if so what is it? If I could make this large enough (infinite ideally) I could go back to using my DEH-P70BT.

Well I don't know if it was FLB itself or something installed since FLB was installed.... but I have just wiped and installed the Portuguese ROM and the connection with my Pioneer connects via Bluetooth like a dream now. Just have to find out if other things are okay - in particular GPS and battery life (as Swedish Spring ate my battery in a day when I tried it last).

Well.... it wasn't FLB causing the issue. I installed the Portuguese ROM and my issue seemed to go but it came back. I then decided it may be an issue in 2.2 so went to GEN 2 and 2.3 Ginger Stir Fry (seems slower than the Portuguese ROM to me). Again - seemed to work only for the issue to resurface.

Anyway - looking on the net it seems there is a problem sometimes that when you install new apps the bluetooth gets messed up and you need to go into the Bluetooth Share service and clear the cache and data. This does resolve the issue and automatic pairing resumes - but I have to wait to find out if this is a long term fix or whether normal operation (not installing apps) will cause the problem to come back.

EDIT : To clear the cache I used AntTek App Manager, clicked Apps tab, clicked on FIL and selected Running apps, clicked on Bluetooth Share and then clicked on the Clear Data and Clear Cache buttons.
