HELP! Factory Reset - now icon labels are in Chinese!

As above.

Did a factory reset on the phone prior to selling it. The whole phone reverted to Chinese.

I'm running Japanese Jellyfish Froyo.

Managed to switch display and input languages to English but now all the icons for rom-based apps (Messaging, camera etc) are still in Chinese.

Any ideas?!

Did you have a Chinese SIM in the phone at the time? Some while back, I flashed my phone, with a Chinese SIM in it, and the Welcom to Android wizard started up in Chinese. I resolved it by putting a UK SIM in.
