[Suggestion] Please unpin and/or unlock the thread "[GUIDE] How to Install a Custom ROM on the ZTE Blade [GEN1]"

The topic "22/May [GUIDE] How to Install a Custom ROM on the ZTE Blade [GEN1]" is out of date. There is plenty of good advice in there but it doesn't all apply for the current ROM regime and users have to sort through it to find valid instructions, some of which need knowledge acquired from many other threads to determine which are current. If no one is prepared to keep this thread/topic up to date then I think it should be unpinned (and unlocked) as it runs the risk of misinforming newbies and potentially increasing queries in numerous other threads.

I am inclined to think its better than nothing, until someone writes a more up to date guide.

Hi All,

I hope someone updates it, as I for one, along with many others still not moved over to Gen2... am very happy with my Gen1 Rom choice as opposed to Gen2.

I do hope that section remains, and sad to see its even lockdown... :( I understand what your saying, but believe this part should still exist (even if it is tidied up)...

Plus can anyone tell me why I should upgrade to Gen2 on my UK phone...??

Cheers, Lister

I only upgraded when GSF came out. Until then, I was quite happy with FLB. I was disappointed not to be able to play Plants vs Zombies and a couple of other games that didn't work on Froyo and didn't fancy messing round with CM7, so when GSF came out needing Gen2, I took the plunge....

OK, but if it stays pinned to the top of the forum I think it needs a disclaimer at the top of the first post. To say something like:

Warning: this topic has not been updated since the beginning of May 2011. Many ROMs have had new versions released and several new ROMs have been introduced since then. Please check the active discussions in this forum and the dedicated sub-forum on ROMs and ROM customisation for more recent updates on ROM releases and on installation methods. If you wish to install a Gen2 ROM on a Gen1 device the Gen1 to Gen2 TPT upgrade thread is probably a good place to start.

There's no reason to upgrade at all if you're happy with the rom you're using. If, however, the devs continue to do their amazing stuff with 2.3 variations and you want to see how they run and whether they suit or enhance your usage, then you will have to go Gen2 as that's the hardware standard to which they are working.
