Guest donkeyboy Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 Hi My beloved daughter spilt hot chocolate onto my lap with my San Francisco in my pocket. Small amount of liquid inside the edge of the casing which I quickly cleared up. Left to dry. Everything works fine (speakers, volume, on/off, headphone socket, network connection etc), except for the touch screen. Most times the touch screen responds to no swipes/gestures at all. Or if I give the screen a good clean when the phone is switched off and then switch on, it'll work fine for about 5-10 mins but then rapidly starts to ignore gestures until no finger input at all. Does anyone reckon it sound like it needs a new digitiser? Or is it just worthwhile scrapping it and getting a new one? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance?
Guest mcfly666 Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Try and take the phone apart and place all items in a pot of rice for as long as possible, put the rice and phone parts in an airing cupboard. This might pull all the moisture out of the screen and it will work as it should.

Guest donkeyboy Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Thanks gang. That is what I've done, despite the quizzical looks from my kids and the good lady protesting that I'd just used up the last of the rice. How long is "as long as possible"?
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 3 4 days should be fine i think
