Guest mcfly666 Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 I'm going to do a project where I make a blade into a built in satnav for a car. Would it be possible to change the hardware buttons. Idealy I would need to turn the home button into the on/off switch, though I am unsure if you could do this with the phone turned off?
Guest T3KO Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 (edited) Not per software i think, you could wake the phone but not as real power button. Not 100% sure but remapping should only work when the phone is on. /system/usr/keylayout/sholes-keypad.kl Edited August 17, 2011 by T3KO
Guest hugobosslives Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 yer as above, i can manually change them once the phone is on. but have to always turn on (from off) via original power button. you can turn on from stanby tho....
Guest t0mm13b Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 I do not think this can be done in respect to the power button, but yes, volume keys, menu/home/back key can be reassigned. If you do not want to keep pressing the power button, then the simplest solution would be to look around for a program that prevents the handset from sleeping - mind you - this will drain the battery like you've never seen before! Am sure its an easy little java project - to acquire a wakelock and use it to periodically keep the screen on all the time - use stackoverflow.com for resources on how to do it :)
Guest nachoman133 Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 You can use ADW Launcher Ex and you can change the home button to any app or you can put settings like me hope this helped: )
