Guest Reesters Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Man I wish I was at Gamescom this year! With Sony Ericsson making headway within the gaming market thanks to the boundary breaking Xperia PLAY they had a lot to shout about at Cologne this year. This week has not only seen the release of Minecraft - Pocket Edition but rumours of other huge names coming exclusively to PLAY. I can lay those rumours to rest now and tell all what has been confirmed at Gamescom and what we can look forward to in the coming months. Sony Ericsson and EA have been hard at work creating games just for us PLAY users and 3 more titles are in the pipeline... hold onto your seats.... FIFA 12, Need For Speed - Hot Pursuit and the incredible Dead Space are all to make an appearance in the next few months. (Release dates to be published when I have them) Reckless Getaway, Reckless Racing 2 and Tanks by Polarbit Let's Golf 3 another exciting title by Gameloft Townsmen 6, Guns & Glory WW2 and Clouds and Sheep by HandyGame They Need To Be Fed by YoYo Games Lame Castle by Be-Rad Entertainment Hyperlight by Catfishblues Games Diversion and Crazy Snowboard by Ezone PTY LTD Gibs & Gore Micronytes Protoxide and Battle Boats 3D by Herocraft EVAC HD and Radient HD by Hexage PewPew 2 by Jean-Francois Geyelin Stellar Escape by Orange Agenda Jumpy, INC and Meganoid by Orange Pixel Death Worm by PlayCreek LLC No Gravity by Real Tech VR Crusade of Destiny by Divide Arts Desert Winds by Southend Interactive With Sony Ericsson's innovative development programme "Stand Out" small game development companies have a chance to showcase their amazing talents through a device that is seriously beginning to stand out from the crowds. Among the titles available to try are Catfish Blue's Hyperlight http://tiny.cc/bf29i , Be-Rad's Lame Castle http://tiny.cc/fabbf and an enhanced new version of They Need To Be Fed by YoYo Games http://tiny.cc/phelc (all links are to Android Market). Independant developers really do make some of the best games. With smaller teams and budgets and without the pressures of churning out multi million dollar hits it really seems to be the best avenue to let creative juices flow. A lot of gamers have been waiting (some unconsciously) for a device with the abilities a 'phone has but one that can seriously contend with other portable gaming devices. With the news of these sort of high end collaborations, independant gaming greats and exclusivities I think Sony Ericsson may have cracked it. Anyone who owns an Xperia PLAY will be very excited about the coming months... I know I am.
