Guest Sonax Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 (edited) Hello, I own a Huawei U8230 and I am annoyed by the countless lock-ups and bugs the official room is causing. Huawei has filled the phone with junk, and at times it is slow as a turtle, and I can see all this s*** running in the background draining my battery much faster than I whould like. Because of this i decided that I was going to try to root it, so I tried following this Guide in this section of the forum to install a custom ROM. However there is a problem, when i get to step:10 and choose flash zip from sdcard it says: E:Can't format SYSTEM... and E: failure at line 6: format SYSTEM Installation aborted. E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log and E:Can't open CACHE: recovery/log and E: Can't find MISC: Hopefully someone can give me some answers and assistance, I whould appriciate it greatly. Guest Sonax Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Yes. that was my general idea also after hours of reading this forum. However my Windows 7 Proffesional wont allow me. When i try downloading z4root.zip or z4root.adb(or something like that) the operative system of the computer says it cannot read the sourcecode and therefore cannot store the file to my harddrive. I havent been able to find any solution to this on this forum or anywhere else online, it seems it is a rare problem, cause everybody talks of z4root as if there should be no problem...

Ah, so the real problem is that your computer is infected with a bad OS. ;) If your phone still works, you can download it with that. And to make your life really easy, here it is zipped up and ready to go: z4root.zip Edited August 20, 2011 by twrock

However, how do i unzip the the file when i download it directly to my phone? Cause i was actually able to download the file you posted, but when i try to extract/unzip the file, it says that the archive is damaged or something like that, i have tried using both 7zip and winrar to unzip it, both gives the same message. Any hint to what is causing this? I guess it should not be a problem that i am running a 64 bit system and 64 bit unzipping programs, cause who aren't there days?

I'm still using 32 bit.:rolleyes: But then again, I can unzip the file I uploaded. I'm guessing it's Windows trying to "protect" you from the defilement of anything but Microsoft's own products and file formats. (Suggestion: consider Linux next time you go looking for a fully functional OS.) Hmm, which free filemanagers for Android can unzip files? Hold on........ .....yes, AndExplorer will unzip it. (I don't have the original filemanger installed anymore, so I don't know if it will.) First install AndExplorer from the Market. Then tap on the zip file you downloaded. It should unzip it to a new folder on your SD card. In there you will find z4root.apk and a "placeholder" file. The one you want is z4root.apk. ;)
