Guest normandorp Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 i just got my orange san francisco and it feels less responsive than my ipod touch 3g. i heard about this debranding stuff to make it faster thruough installing roms. i dont know what these are but if anyone can explain to me how i can debrand the phone i would be grateful
Guest t0mm13b Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 De-branding is a method of removing firmware junk and supporting applications. For starters - get it unlocked first before proceeding any further - you could run into complications later. Here is the linky to another thread in this same section. Read this FAQ in order to understand the glossary and how-tos here... Secondly, get 'Mr. Pigfish' from the market place - to double check on whether you have a gen1 or gen2 handset. If 'Mr.Pigfish' states you have a gen1 handset - and wish to use CM7, proceed over to this linky to upgrade the handset to gen2. (I used that version file referenced Gen1-to-Gen2-TPT-v8-custom.zip) And follow the instructions. When the TPT method is completed and upgrade went successfully, then you can flash as many roms as you like. If you wish to remain on gen1, use Swedish Spring which can be found here. You might be asking why gen2? All future dev efforts will be focussed on gen2 handsets. And most importantly - read the instructions/threads before proceeding, and also read the glossary in this sub-forum section :) (BTW You may be a windows user - in that case head over here to get the adb drivers for the ZTE blade handset)

Guest Kettchy Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 thanks for your help it's much appreciated, will debranding the phone make it faster and more responsive? It certainly did for me. Don't ever expect an identical experience to the iPod touch - bear in mind you're only paying a fraction of the cost here - but cyanogenmod made my phone run like a dream. The only problems I had were with ADW launcher - easily fixed by installing Launcher Pro from the market.
Guest Atomix86 Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 thanks for your help it's much appreciated, will debranding the phone make it faster and more responsive? If you couple it with launcher pro and dont use too many widgets, then yes it will. However the Blade will never get the super smooth responsive feel of the more expensive phones because it is just that; a budget handset with slower parts.
Guest swisstourist Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 i think less "touchy" is better. iphone and ipdad are too sensitive.u have rally to touch the screen to move it or get input. and resistive screen is not goodenough. the blade is between them.zte blade surpass apple in many way for a 150$ phone... ah ah ah got mine in switzerland for 120 swiss francs. u can not beat this price. and u can even synchronise all with google. where is apple cloud? does it exist yet?what can u do with a 800$ phone, yes u can drop it and change the glass screen.:Dand pay 2 zte for the price of one gorilla glass.
