Wake the screen up without Power On button?

Looks like the phone Power On button can go faulty soon.

Is there any workable application that can wake the screen up when

the screen is tapped or the phone shaken or flipped... I mean using the

phone's proximity or accelerometer sensors?

I am forced to use the Power ON button to wake the screen up from sleep mode.

I tried this one, sometime it works, could use volume key to wake up my phone. sometimes not working.. don't know why..

CM7 for the milestone has an option to wake with volume keys. I didnt try CM7 on Optimus yet but it think it should have that option too.

I dont think it is possible to use the accelerometer or the proximity sensor to wake the phone. I think they are not monitored when the screen goes off. During calls the proximity sensor can be used, but when the phone is sleeping (not on partial wake) I think it is impossible.

I would say on CM7 there is a Volume Rocker Wake option, but it only works every other time for me. Touching the screen to wake the device would not be possible as the sensors are off when the screen is off.

widgetlocker lockscreen can do it. its a beautiful lockscreen replacement that has a lot of other functions too.
