HELP with CWM

Just following a walkthrough to get Corvus5 on my Advent vega and it says to do a back up with CWM. Ive opened the recovery app from and its booting into recovery mode, but my vega has been stuck on the screen with white box orange arrow and android logo for about 30mins? Does anyone know how long this should take before i can run the backup etc?? Its connected to my pc as it said to do this in the walkthrough and is on charge.
