Guest Alien Droid Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 I've spent a long time looking but I'm not happy with the so called handwriting apps I've tried so far. I've first used handwriting 8 ish years ago on my P800 then a P910i Sony Ericsson. It works very well, it's fast and doesn't make too many mistakes. Vertually no special way of writing, was very easy to use. So has the handwriting software on the P910i made it into an Android app yet? Can someone please suggest something close to how that use to work? I've tried Graffiti just now and I don't like it. How do you make the letter "T" lol I want an app also that can let me write in any application like I could on my old P910. Be that Word, Excel, Notes, sms, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, everything...! Thanx in advance for any good handwriting app suggestions..
Guest flshg Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 One I know of is flext9 input. It allows text input using handwriting recognition. It works well, but writing using finger is far slower than typing.

It works well, but writing using finger is far slower than typing. Thanx for the info. I might give it a go as nothing out there so far that matches my old P910 handwriting input. No trial version tho so hopefully I wont have to try too many paid versions and not like them! With my old fone I could use a stylus so I could write a text message faster than typing, but the problem is you can't use a pen size stylus with new phones, I've seen some really fat ones tho so might be worth a try. This is probably a stupid question, but is there any way to reconfigure my phone to except a fine point stylus input? I assume not because of the screen digitiser or other etc! I probably want best of both worlds, but I miss the days of not looking at the screen to write a tx message, be that hard keyboard or proper handwriting. Voice recog is ok but not good for background noise or privacy. Unless new mobiles design learn the best bits off the old ones then long term I'm looking for a fone with a hard keyboard I guess!
Guest flshg Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 As you say the type of screen on our phones is unable to use standard stylus pens. I guess you could try those stylus pens that are specifically for capacitative touchscreens but cant imagine they are very accurate. My advice would be to practice with something like flext9 input - it can handle swype-like input, handwriting recognition and normal typing. Supposedly the upcoming touchpal input allows for 'blind' input.
