Guest diablosrojos Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Hi, I have just installed swedish spring on my blade. It's one of the original models so has the oled screen. Since then I have had a problem with the screen. A blue flashing band occupies the top third of the screen. It stays for a short while then disappears. Typically it happens after the phone has been idle for some time. Is this to do with the rom or is it a hardware issue? Phone is still under warranty for another couple of months so would like to know if this is hardware and is going to get worse. Thanks for any help

Before you have to convert your phone to Gen2. Or you can use all in one TPT method which converts your phone to Gen 2 and installs new Rom in one step. Look in wbaws Ginger Stir Fry thread.

I have the EXACT same problem with my OLED blade! I think its probably a hardware issue, its just the blue subpixels right? - Its not a "smooth" colour, its sort of speckled... I dont actually get them often, but they usually cover most of the status bar, and ocassionaly about a third of the screen. I reckon its probably a hardware issue myself, I have this issue on Cm7. I would return my blade, but I cracked the digitizer :P

I followed your advice and installed Ginger stir fry using the TPT method. Just waiting to see if that resolves the problem. Have noticed that home button now not working and wifi dropping out. Both were fine on swedish spring. Anyway, I will have to leave the phone for a while to see if the screen is still playing up. No point in spending too much time solving probs if I have to return it to Orange. Does anybody know waht happens if you return a San Francisco to Orange. Do they repair it or send a replacement? Don“t really want a TFT screen... Thanks again
Guest diablosrojos Posted August 28, 2011 Report Posted August 28, 2011 Issue not resolved I'm afraid so it looks like a hardware fault. Does anyone have any experience of returning a faulty san francisco to orange? The problem seems to go once the phone is active for a minute so I could maybe live with it. Only concern that it will get progressively worse and by that time will be out of warranty. Will Orange try to repair it or send a replacement?

You will most likely get a refurbished replacement, which will most likely be a TFT
Guest Mr-Maniac Posted August 28, 2011 Report Posted August 28, 2011 You will most likely get a refurbished replacement, which will most likely be a TFT +1 Just recieved a replacement for my brand new 3 week OSF that just would not respond to any touch - screen must have been damaged. Was working fine, set it up, and left it for couple of weeks and swiched on, no response. Contacted Orange, who asked me to pop into the store, but they refused to swap as it was over 14 day period, so had to contact Orange customer service and told them I was annoyed, and got more annoyed when right at the end of the conversation, the bloke said it will be a refurb unit. Been playing with it for the last 1/2 hour, as the courier was about 45 minutes beyond the time allocated to me. Just passing on the information of my experience. Hope this helps.....
Guest diablosrojos Posted August 28, 2011 Report Posted August 28, 2011 I think I will stick with it for a while, if it gets any worse I have a couple of months of warranty left. Really don't want a refurb with a TFT screen... Not sure if I like the new rom though, preferred swedish spring. As I said before the home button is now not working and neither is wifi. Any solutions to fix these problems or could I go back to the previous rom?

You can easily flash with Swedesh Spring for Gen2 phones: I have GSF Rom and Home button is ok, also wifi is better than in Froyo ROMs. :o
Guest diablosrojos Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 home button started working after I removed the battery and rebooted phone. Wireless won't work at all and signal for calls seems poorer too. Wireless connects and disconnects immediately.
Guest diablosrojos Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 resolved wifi issue so will stick with this rom for now. Thanks for your replies
