Guest Pia23 Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Hi, I was using GPS earlier and my phone rebooted itself and since then i've had no signal even though I'm at home where i usually get full signal and my other blade has full signal. Signal issues aren't new for me but usually sorts itself out soon enough, this has been going on for hours with no life. I have taken a screenshot, the icon in between the wifi and no signal icon - does anyone know what it is? I've never seen it before. Thanks for reading.
Guest k0zmic Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) It looks like the 'Missing SIM Card' one I think. Regarding why it's doing it I'm not sure, on my old phone it came up when the SIM card came slightly loose due to dropping it. Edited August 29, 2011 by k0zmic
Guest t0mm13b Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Unusual - as K0zmic mentioned - the sim card could be loose or not seated in the sim card slot or not making contacts with the electronic pins inside the slot. Strange!
Guest Pia23 Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) Ah interesting.. When i was trying to get it to go onto Orange and T Mobile manually to try and get a signal, it said "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network". Well, i bought the phone in October so luckily it's still in guarantee but if it's the handset and i get a new one, it won't be OLED *sniffle* I did take the SIM out earlier to try get things running again. Edit - Oh! I just took the SIM back out and gave it a wipe and shove etc, i now have full signal! No idea what was wrong with the way it was... i hope it's not gonna come loose all the time now :( Big thanks for your help! Edited August 29, 2011 by Pia23

Sounds like your phone still has network lock? Try unlocking it for a start? There's a linky that will do the job. Then maybe, perhaps you will get a signal then. :) Edit: Ho okie... sounds like the contacts of the sim card got dirty... Edited August 29, 2011 by t0mm13b

Although this issue is fixed now, i do have signal problems regularly, especially with getting a data connection.

Well, say if you were to switch mobile providers, but wish to keep using the blade, that's where the network unlock comes in. :D Edited August 29, 2011 by t0mm13b
Guest k0zmic Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 would i get any benefit from unlocking it then? A bit more resale value as well, if you do decide to sell on eBay for example. Also, it could be good for diagnosis e.g. test another SIM card from another provider to see if there's a fault with the phone or network etc.
Guest swisstourist Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 right, i will never buy a phone which is lock or too hard to unlock. i travel frequently and need to change sim card . i met guys in asia who has iphone4 and can not change card, my Dtac sim 1 card cost me 1$.
