I was not able to produce a successful cifs module.

I have one that is accepted by the kernel but it hangs the device.

any ideas ?

slight issue I have noticed. If I reboot the device it changes my choice of keyboard from better 8 back to the default hackers keyboard which fc's regularly for me.

Anyone else having this issue or am I alone?

no reason why that fcs did you factory reset on install?

you could delete the appropriate com. in data/data.

but as you're having issues with changing a keyboard it sounds like you have other fundamental issues, that shouldn't be happening, it doesn't seem to for anyone else..

did you restore apps using titanium backup or similar? as that causes more problems than anything else

Hackers keyboard force closes with me too. Seems to be when I press the letter 'Q'. Its wierd. Swype, which I prefer anyways, works fine.

Not seen any other reported problems thou.

Delete hackers keyboard /system/app/hackers.apk

Reboot - very important

Install hackers keyboard from market

its weird no-one else has mentioned it at all.. wonder what it is causing it..

if you're going to delete it then make sure you select a different keyboard first :D

Actually I had this issue too (Keyboard worked much more consistently in landscape)

I didn't mention it as I had more serious issues ;)

I've reverted to 2.2 for now as I'm back at college and seriously need a stable phone. Still will keep my eye on Fards development!

Off topic but Fards avatar only shows in mobile mode whereas mine only showing desktop mode.. Bah!

Yeah, I did a factory reset on install using streak own. should I have used the clockwork mod one instead?

changing the keyboard is not really the issue. It is that when I reboot the device it defaults back to hackers. As I had hackers installed before flashing to your rom, restoring from Titanium might have caused an issue.

I think I traced my reboot issues to the following apps:

Opera mobile,

SwiftKey keyboard,

BBC iplayer and flash in general (Extended youtube too)

Gps navigation.

Other apps can crash it but opera mobile, a few tabs open and forum posting almost always reproduces freezing and reboots.

Im also getting quite a lot of freezes with Opera. I also use SwiftKey

My default is set to SwiftKey and it doesnt change when rebooting.

Try wiping in recovery AND use Dells Factory reset (Found in recovery before entering clockwork / streakmod)

You should only get one force-close upon booting ;)

I have never have need for CIF :unsure:

And without sounding too stupid.. I don't really know what it is / does

no fards, it's not an obsession :)

on every Android device community is asking for tun and cifs modules. It's just that on Streak there is less interest. I don't know why. (I am using an Asus Transformer tablet and many people are requesting these modules. Thank God it's easy to achieve on Asus)

For people who don't know:

tun module is for vpn tunnels. I need it to access my company's VPN when I'm mobile. it's not an obsession but a real requirement. Without "tun" Streak is useless for me.

cifs module is for accessing Windows PC shares. I need it to access my shared folders at home and at office. not as much required as tunnel device but still a requirement.

Weird that people like you (as a Streak rom developer with lots of tech knowledge) don't use these stuff.

Are you working for an IT company ?

btw, I am not always asking for help. Like tunnel device, I compile several modules that I need.

I`ve not had any problems with flash. Only use iplayer and tvcatchup thou

I doubt it would hurt to try thou if u are having issues and i think flash is in /system/etc/

As far as I know the AMSS and DSP1 you must flash are the developer versions

I maybe wrong but its likely that these roms make use of things only available in the developer versions

If you were asking how to flash then its easy :P

1) Download Fards AMSS and DSP zip on the main page

2) Download my attachment and extract

3) Extract AMSS and DPS into the "2.3" folder

4) Power off your streak, power on while holding the "camera" button and enter fast-boot mode

5) Connect your USB cable and open "go.bat"

6) Press any key when prompted to go through the stages of "go.bat"

Almost exactly the same steps as when you flashed clockwork recovery! If you haven't done this or you have driver issues that you can't solve then perhaps you shouldn't be doing this :o

So iPlayer works fine for you then?

On the previous 2.0 build that was released whenever i tried to play a video from iPlayer it just hung and then shortly after the phone force reboots or in some cases just hung and i had to take battery out.
