Guest tkelly0727 Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 the terminal emulator came on when i install a rom. what is it use for ?
Guest t0mm13b Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) To enter commands to navigate or troubleshoot :) Its really the same as any terminal/console that you see on Linux these days. For example to tweak android files, one can go in there and edit it or if you have wifi enabled, you can ssh into your home server (if you have one that is accessible either on your internal LAN or internet) Edited August 30, 2011 by t0mm13b
Guest targetbsp Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 It's basically the Android equivalent of Windows command prompt. The average person is going to have much use for it but on occasion it may prove useful whilst following a guide to change some setting for which there's no UI option or something.
Guest unrandomsam Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 the terminal emulator came on when i install a rom. what is it use for ? Not much use at all (Far easier to use adb from a computer over usb or wireless)
Guest k0zmic Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 Not much use at all (Far easier to use adb from a computer over usb or wireless) I think it's okay for simple, quick commands like df -h just to check partition sizes or the amount of free space remaining. For lengthier things then ADB from a computer is probably a better idea.
