It looks like the LG servers are currently down for maintenance.Hopefully once this maintenance is over we'll be able to pull down the update

It's probably just a hoax designed to make LG look worse.

The screenshot was from the BC2AppSetup / LGMobile update utility. Unfortunately, after they got the servers back up and running, I am still not being offered any updates.

Read on LG Singapore's wall that no one has got the update.

So this is the situation. There is no gingerbread released yet for 2X and majority of optimus one users. Someone must have made a mistake and released the guide early. There are 3 possible outcomes. The first is that the optimus one update will be launched either next week or 2 weeks later. This coincides with the Uk gingerbread release for 2X. (so there is a possibility that 2X gingerbread release in Singapore will be out in the same week). The second outcome is that this guide isn't made for Singapore consumers. The third is to prepare consumers for the update. They want you to prepare/ install the programs so that consumers will be ready for the gingerbread once it is out.

Having owned both HTC's and SonyEricssons in the past I dont see the pushing of updates forward as a reason not to buy their next device.

I can see how LG wants to make sure GB will be smoother/less buggy than the original Froyo O2x shipped with.

As with CM "Its done when its done" STFU and wait for it :D

Yes - that would have been the case if we were only talking about new features and "nice to haves" - but in this case, people are looking to this update to fix a lot of problems they have with their phones... problems that shouldn't have been there in the first place, and that should have been fixed long ago.

how can we know it will be less buggy If they don't ever release it yet?

Optimus 3D / P920 already has GB, and they should have more experince how to make it works too for optimus 2x...

C'mon, LG make promise since June 2011, why it took so long delay to update GB in optimus 2x? got my point? i think there is so many hardware bugs in optimus 2x so they don't have any idea how to fix it...

And, messages from Facebook LG Singapore (9 hours ago):

Dear valued users of LG, in our haste to bring the best to you, we made an announcement earlier that was inaccurate and would like to apologise for all the confusion. The LG Optimus 2X has just received a software upgrade, and it is not the Gingerbread update. We are doing our best to ensure that when the Gingerbread update arrives, it will be in perfect working order for the benefit of our users. In the meantime, this software upgrade will be able to address some of your existing concerns. Please rest assured that we will inform all of you once the Gingerbread update has fully arrived and is available. Thank you all for your kind patience.

To be honest after the HTC hero update to 2.1 taking seemingly forever to arrive i see no reason for it to stop you buying a phone, yes it was really annoying having to wait for it for months but it does seem like all manufacturers have had issues with updating at some point. It wasn't that long ago that you bought a phone and is no choice but the rubbish stock os until you didn't use the phone anymore so any updates at all is good
