Guest AshesOfNoS Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 Hey all. I've been reading this forum for a while now and it's been really helpful so thank you for that. However I have a question that I haven't been able to find the answer to while searching. I'm thinking of upgrading from SS RL5 to the latest GSF via TPT but was just wondering, if you want to update the ROM (from 19b to the newest one) do you still need clear all data etc? I never had to think about it with Swedish Spring as it discontinued by the time I installed. Thanks alot.
Guest rockstarszzzz Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 Hey all. Answer to that has been discussed numerous times in that thread plus others. Ideally with update of ROMs - cache and dalvik wipe will be ok. After that if you face - force closes, battery drain, hardware/software button issues - then it means you will need a complete wipe as stated in one of the threads about 'how to clean before ROM'. For me even if I update ROMs, I do complete wipe, format SD card, put ROM on SD and flash. I've gone to an extent of having one spare SD card that I use only when I want to install/update ROMs. Thus formatting it everytime is easy - this way you know that there are no chances of bad flash from your side. The bugs you see after this, are mostly 'real bugs'
