Thinking of upgrading to a HTC Desire.

I've been a zte blade user for nearly a year now, got it rooted custom rom etc.

I have recently been offered a htc desire dirt cheap so I was wondering what peoples opinions are about whether I should switch to a htc desire or not.

Of course it is ultimately my choice but I would value any points on the matter.

Obviously the desire as all the specs are better. the blade is just very good for its price. btw how much are you getting it for?

If it's in good nick then a no brainer in my eyes.

Yep my thoughts exactly looks a bit harder to root but I am sure I can manage, will hopefully last me until icecream phones arrive.

Well Desire is better in any way: build quality, design, display, camera and no problems getting spare parts. And the lovely Sense Ui.

For £40 I wouldnt hesitate if you want a bulky phone that is ofc :P

Personally Im not a fan at all. Its 2 big and the battery life sucks compared to my san francisco. Everyone I know who has one moans about that.

I think if I was to upgrade then I would pick a much better phone not just mildly better either.

Wow, thats cheap. Definately buy it. Its better in almost anything, specs build quality, screen, support etc. Only bad thing is, that rooting is harder than for blade, but its still not that big deal.

Get it and I'll buy it off you for £41

I bid £41.50 - that's a cool £1.50 raw profit

Quick though - this is a one time only offer!

I bid £41.52.

That's an awesome £1.52 profit.

I moved from SF to a Motorola Defy (overclocked to 1GHz) a few months ago and this is pretty much the same spec phone as the Desire. Performance-wise, the SF just can't live with the Defy and I think you'd find the situation will be the same with the Desire.

Buy it from your friend, try it out and, if you don't like it, flog it on eBay for a profit!

who said desire is hard to root? indeed is easier than osf. there is a one click root sw around, click it sit down and it will root it for you. speak abt my experience sbout desire is a better build and look than osf at 40 quid is almost like free. however the battery life is a main concern u can tweak it with some roms or sw, at the end i still think after all the phone is still lag so i decided to trade in and get 180 for it and top up another 200+ for gs2

Oh dear. I seem to have developed a phone upgrade addiction.

After moving on from my SF to a Defy a few months ago, I've just ordered an Atrix after seeing a good deal (I like the relatively small case for a 4" screen and have been impressed with the build quality of the Defy). That will make it 4 different phones in the past 12 months...

The best part is that, after selling my OLED SF and the Defy, I'll only have spent a net amount of about 50 quid to buy the Atrix, so I've managed to upgrade quite well in the past year for little cash! Can't wait to get tinkering with the Atrix after I pick it up tomorrow.

Thanks for all the advice (and various offers for the htc ;)). I now own it and have it running a nice cm7 based rom with a partitioned sd card.

The better specs are definitely noticeable but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone not willing to root (though this was pretty easy to do).

I'm not sure what I am going to do with my blade yet might keep it as a spare, might sell it.
