Guest MartzWeb Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Hi guys, My vega completely loses its date and time on any sort of power cycle, and i'm nearly sure it's only started doing this since i flashed VegaComb. Is this a known issue, could it be a symptom of a bad flash, or is my rtc just shagged ? Apologies if this question has been asked previously. I've searched but cant find anything relevant.
Guest bluemotion Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 My Vega used to do this, when I first flashed vegacomb. I assumed it was because it was an early beta. You sure you got beta 8.1? if you have, perhaps flashing it again might help. Guest MartzWeb Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 *sigh* ... redid moddedstock V2 and full 8.1 VC and the problem still exists. I wonder if it's worth trying the earlier moddedstock to see if that makes a difference. Yeah ... may as well :)
Guest Burcotwoody Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 I have had the same problem for a while and have tried re flashing but it still happens. I have also noticed that I can't access certain apps such as Twitter and Android Marketplace until I have corrected the clock and date. I don't know if this is the same for other people or if there is an obvious reason for this as I am still quite new to the Vega. *sigh* ... redid moddedstock V2 and full 8.1 VC and the problem still exists. Guest SimonF7 Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 My first Vega did this and when I queried Advent they told me it shouldn't and was probably a hardware fault. Touch wood, the replacement is working absolutely fine and never loses time. Si
Guest okram1 Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 mine does this - got modded stock 1 with vegacomb 7.1

Should not have this issue n B8 ... prior to B8 there was an issue with this .. RTC had some love in B8 to remedy this .. install ClockSync app from mktplace if you need to get around it and have network, it works really nice ... post some logcat of the issue you have after boot so it can be looked into .. Cheers Cass
Guest MartzWeb Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 I have already got Clocksync .... you are right, it's a great app and does provide a good workaround. I will get some logcat output when i get home from work. The time and date loss doesn't bother me overly since it only happens on a power cycle but if i ever sell the Vega i'm sure whoever buys it will make an issue out of it
Guest Istu Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 I have exactly the same issue with the date/time resetting back to 1st Jan 2009 on a full reboot. Using VegaComb 3.2 build 8.1 I bought it with this ROM on, and am a noob with this device (and Android tbh). ClockSync helps.
Guest richardmlea Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) I have the same issue. It only started for me a few days ago so it might be related to an app that I have installed. Here are my logcats http://pastebin.com/YW6Px7Tj http://pastebin.com/gMgdU8ij the first one is a shutdown the with the time set correctly and the second one is the vega booting up again after the shutdown. This is the first time I have posted logs. Why are they so short? there only seems to be about 100 line and when new lines are generated the last line is removed. have I done somthing wrong? Cheers in advance, Richard Edited September 18, 2011 by richardmlea
Guest Panayioti Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 I also have the same problem and to workaround it I just tick the automatic time box in ' date and time ' under settings which uses the internet to find my time.

Ticking automatic time has no effect for me. If its ticked when I boot it doesn't help and if I untick it and tick it again that doesn't fix it. Clocksync works and is quick and painless.

There is a bug somewhere .. to remedy this issue without the use of clocksync, you need to flash (modded) stock rom, set the time/date and reboot to ensure its set ok .. then install VC and set TZ, it should be all ok now ... we seem to have a bug with the rtc .. needs looked in to ...

Guest Bazabaza Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 (edited) Tried clocksync, but always one hour behind, any ideas? Edited September 23, 2011 by Bazabaza
Guest Cass67 Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 Tried clocksync, but always one hour behind, any ideas? Yeah change you tz in settings..

Guest rebel1 Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Timezone is correct (first thing I checked) still the same please send me dmesg logs, made directly after boot. (And post what device you own.) rebel1
Guest warriorscot Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 I've actually just started to get this issue with the latest vegacomb. Going to try and see what the issue is only thing I can think of is I factory reset the device in CWM before installing the latest build. Going to take a look at it over the next couple of days see if I can fix it.

Going to try and see what the issue is only thing I can think of is I factory reset the device in CWM before installing the latest build. Going to take a look at it over the next couple of days see if I can fix it. The fix is, when in ModdedStock set the time correctly, then reboot to check, then continue installing VC.
Guest ejtagle Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 The fix is, when in ModdedStock set the time correctly, then reboot to check, then continue installing VC. And we will have a cure for this real soon ;)
Guest MartzWeb Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 And we will have a cure for this real soon ;) Looking forward to that .... in the mean time, i reflashed ModdedStock, set the time and then reflashed VC and the problem seems to have gone (touch wood). As ever, thanks guys for your help.
Guest b1ackb1rd Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 My stock Vega started losing dates and time a few weeks ago, then a few days ago the screen became less responsive ... then it shut down and has not worked since. It will NOT go into recovery, only the backlight works. 5 months old, immaculate condition, only lightly used to browse eBay infront of the tv ... PCW have sent it for repair. Unimpressed doesn't begin to describe my thoughts ..............
