Yep, i have to push the power button REAL hard now to get the phone to wake/sleep. Its usable but annoying.

The phone is only 9 months old so well inside warranty. Its rooted to gen2 with GSF on at the mo.

What should i do?

try and take it back to stock rom?

can i put the network block back on? should i?

can i just take it into an orange store in town or should i call some kind of warranty line?

am sad cause i know i'm gonna probably get a non-OLED model back but cant be helped i guess...

Did you try to take the backcover on and off? Since I made my touchstone-mod and the backcover sits more firmly I have to press the button harder.

Take the back off and try to determine if its the switch that is faulty, or just the plastic button part.

If your thinking about returning, don't bother going to a store as you'll just get told its out of store warranty and to ring customer support.

Best ringing 450 from orange phone, or 07973 100 450 from non orange phone to see what they can do for you.

As its over the 6 month 'threshold' they are more likely to offer you a repair than a phone swap, so you will keep the same phone.

Best reverting back to stock if you send it in just to be safe.

Do a backup in CWM before, so you can quickly get back your old ways.

But pin pointing the problem, and then ringing orange should be your first port of call.

yeah ive taken the back case on and off a good few times.

i had the great misfortune of this problem occurring at the same time as a change of ROMS - i moved from GSF to CM7 just to see what would happen - during the change the problem happened so i thought it was a ROM issues....cue many hours of confusion.

its a very bizarre issue - a day or two ago it actually took me almost massaging the power button to get action....it'd take 10 seconds or so to find the sweet spot to wake the phone...now it seems *almost* back to normal.

cheers guys - think i'm gonna run with it for a bit and see if its usable for now...

i keep looking at this and being tempted! - http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/acer-liquid-metal-phone-silver-100-stock-only-149-99-5-quidco-expansys/1009269

When the backs off, if you use you nail on the button, does it work fine, or is the problem still there?

If it does, applying the tiniest amount of electrical contact cleaner on to the switch may help you.

I had the same problem when my phone was 8 months old. Taking the back off and putting it back on would sometimes fix it for a while but i wanted a more permanent fix so i called orange and they sent a new phone out by courier the same day (sunday) Not bad service when you consider that i never used the phone on their network. Just change the rom back to stock orange and put the orange sim back in before you call them.
