Theft aware on GSF b25:

installing - write directly:

'Could not write to /system directory (FIX ME! implement ttyname() bionic/libc/bionic/ stubs.c:360). Retry ?

The same message is shown:

'Could not write to /system directory (FIX ME! implement ttyname() bionic/libc/bionic/ stubs.c:360).

when using LUKS MANAGER (aes volume encryption)

.......

changelog:

v.2.4.3 (14th Sep 2011)

....

- Fix Low CPU Floating Point Score issue with Antutu Benchmark

......

I don't see any difference with Antutu, Its always around 16 to 20

Am I missing something if I flash this kernel on top of GSF b21.

Yes you are, you need to use b24 or b25. There was a problem with the libm.so (maths library) which I copied from the orange monte carlo rom, antutu uses that for the floating point benchmark. The kernel doesn't make much (if any) difference to that benchmark score. GSF 25 uses an optimised custom compiled (cflags O3 & mtune for our cpu) version of the CM7 libm.so

Thanks, that is clear now. It wasn't for me in the first place.

I go update my GSF version.

Took me a while to work out & it probably doesn't affect much except the antutu benchmark. betas 21 to 23 of gsf had that bug, now the scores are better than ever with b25. For gsf b25 I recompiled CM7 with more optimised compiler flags & vmsplit2g then used a lot of those lib files.

Maybe this is why I'm getting low scores. Is it safe to extract this libm.so from your rom and copy it to my phone using Root Explorer?

Great work burstlam :)

I have a prob thus when i try to compile your kernel :

  CC mm/page-writeback.o

mm/page-writeback.c: In function 'write_cache_pages':

mm/page-writeback.c:825: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault

Please submit a full bug report,

with preprocessed source if appropriate.

See <http://gcc.gnu.org/bugs.html> for instructions.

make[1]: *** [mm/page-writeback.o] Error 1

make: *** [mm] Error 2

I believe it is the GCC version used cause this problem.

Now I am using the GCC 4.4.3 toolchain from CM7 source to compile.

Means yes?

No idea why he quoted that comment :/

This kernel will not work with cm7, only roms based on the gingerbread leak (gsf, cae etc.)

If you want a .35 kernel with cm7, use sej's 179 build.

oops ! did a wrong quote..i meant im using on gsf b22....

abnyways any idea how to just replace the math lib files that wbaw said are broken in b22 and 23...(used to calculate float cpu) ??

i dont wanna install a whole new rom and spend another 2hrs tailoring it according it to myself...

- Adopted with Brain Fxxk Scheduler (BFS) as Default. Performance improved.

- Lagfree Cpu Governor, base on Conservative, have better latency setting.

- Tweak on Swap memory behavior

THANKS !!

BFS is which in NoFrillCpu - ? bfq ?

no. I think BFS is how the kernel is configured internally. the scheduler in nofrillcpu sets the IO scheduler which is different.

As far as I know you cant change from BFS without re-compiling. Maybe someone can explain otherwise

+1

what to select to select bfs?? or like the next reply said??

btw ran antutu on this new kernerl..got some amazing scores(which will increase by atleast 100-125 using b26 gsf coz am on b22 which has some uissue with float calculation lib file)

cpu frequency= 710mhz

integer- 124

float= 20

2d graphics=226

3d graphics= 481

database io= 175

sd write=80

sd read=186

TOTAL== 1540

i guess capable of getting over 1650 if i go b26 or blade mix 2.3

EDIT::

ok installed b26 gsf scores inscreed by 160 points..float incresed...now the total score at 710mhz is 1690 :D

awesome kernel!!!
