Guest Productivity Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Okay, here is an out of the box plan to get this ball rolling. It's out there so don't judge. What if : We find an unlocked zte skate on ebay (make sure it's legit direct from zte in china), get a bunch of interested parties to each contribute 10 gbp each then we have this unlocked device shipped to yourself or one of the trusted devs from the zte blade forum, maybe Paul, Kalt, Wbaw? Then the skilled dev can dump the unlocked rom and work their magic to get the unlock solution for all. Once the device has served it's purpose we could either : 1) Raffle it off to one of the lucky financiers 2) Sell it on ebay and share the proceeds (a bit complicated) or give the money to charity or something 3) or any better ideas people may have It would have to be a well administrated process by a trusted member of course (someone with tonnes of respect here at Modaco). I'm in for a tenner. What do you guys think?
Guest tilal6991 Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 The 3 devs I would say that have the best skills with ZTE devices are kalt_kaffe, Tom G and wbaw.
Guest Navie Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Even though I am not after an unlock because I have been with Orange since 2001, it seems a good idea, here is a link to a Uk based seller http://www.superetrader.co.uk/zte/zte-skate-sim-free.html
Guest whatcolour Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 See An unlocked rom doesn't help I am afraid, I know because I made a rom off Taiwan T3 and the lock still exists. We need to reflash the firmware (just like how we upgraded Gen1 blades to Gen2)
Guest gitf@ce Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 How about we buy a Skate for one of the devs capable and willing to code a firmware unlock? It may be enough of an incentive?
Guest Sebastian404 Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 from what I know of it (and I've only really been following it in passing) the lock code is checking something in the NAND not the rom, even devices that are factory unlocked will have the lock check... ZTE learnt a lot from previous devices... we where FAR too helpfull.
Guest tilal6991 Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 I'm narrowed it down and I'm absolutely sure the lock in nvitems along with the iemi. If I can get a dump of this then I should be able to unlock any OMC.

Guest tilal6991 Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Dump of what? NVitems of a factory unlocked Skate.
Guest gitf@ce Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 So if someone was able to prise a code out of Orange, would the nvitems from that phone work?
Guest tilal6991 Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 So if someone was able to prise a code out of Orange, would the nvitems from that phone work? Maybe. Actually it's more than likely.
Guest tillaz Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 (edited) i think if anyone unlocks this thing i will be tilal, the price/spec comparison from the blade has made this phone no very well supported Edited September 10, 2011 by tillaz
Guest dadashi Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 and without unlock it's useless....
Guest TouchyAndalou Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 Hello Sirs, I am an experienced non-profit Nigerian unlocker of phones. Please each send me your ZTE Skate device and I will unlock it for you, before returning your phones the following day. I will also require all your names, addresses and bank account details, to ensure that you are trustworthy people. This is merely a formality and very common in the phone unlocking trade. I eagerly await your further correspondence. God bless you.

Guest unrandomsam Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 So if someone was able to prise a code out of Orange, would the nvitems from that phone work? I don't think so. (Orange won't give you the code you need to get the nvitems). From what I can tell the qfuse system works by having 2 codes : Flash / Diag code and Unlock Code To read the unlock code easily you need the flash / diag code. (Only way to get it is some hacked loader that runs on the radio processor and allows full access to the flash or more easily jtag but you need to solder). Orange will only likely provide the first one (Which is no use for dumping the NVITEMS). Cloning would work (from a factory unlocked skate - Copying all the nvitems over jtag and then rechanging the IMEI). But you would have to solder the pads which people don't like doing. (And it would be a pita to do with free jtag tools - easier with an ort jtag / riff box / (easy jtag ?). Maybe someone will make a solderless jig but I wouldn't hold your breath (The blade still doesn't have one (but yet the racer does ???))
Guest unrandomsam Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 i think if anyone unlocks this thing i will be tilal, the price/spec comparison from the blade has made this phone no very well supported If anyone unlocks this I think it will be : Furious Team (~20€) DC Unlocker team (~20€ (if they are before furious) or 10€) (in that order). Its possible it can already be done using a riff box. (Supports the blade already).
Guest gitf@ce Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 So not just a question of flashing a fiddled with firmware then?

Guest unrandomsam Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 So not just a question of flashing a fiddled with firmware then? Unless ZTE have made a mess of implementing it (I think they have done it right). There is no way to do this from the apps processor.(MSM7227 turbo).
