Guest doogsville Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 Hi there. I live in China, teaching English, and I bought a Blade recently, the ZTE-U V880 from China Unicom running Android 2.2.2. I love it, but it comes with a ton of bloatware that's mostly in Chinese for Chinese websites, and since my Chinese reading and writing are not good, it's no use to me. I rooted it with Z4root with no problem and then installed Recovery manager to allow me to install Clockwork Recovery. I'm not sure what happened, but it allowed me to boot into recovery mode the first time I tried, to make sure it worked, but since then it refuses to fastboot at all. I have since installed Rom Manager and Clockwork Mod 5.0.2.0, but when I try to boot into recovery it just hangs at the opening screen with the china Unicom logo and I have to take the battery out or push the reset button beside the camera to reboot the phone. Switching on with volume down and the home key, or volume up, has the same result. I installed fast reboot pro, same result. I tried to install Cyanogenmod with Rom Manager, but when I press to wipe the dalvik cache it fast reboots with the same result. It always comes back when I pull the battery and restart, but it's driving me nuts. I want to put a custom rom on it, but it's just stuck. Any ideas? I did a search on this forum and on Google, but so far I haven't found any useful information.

I know, but thank you. Yes I used Mr. Pigfish, and it's a Gen2. I spent a week researching and reading before I tried even rooting it. Im baffled. It will boot with no problems if I power it off, but if any application tries to fast boot it, or if I try to get into recovery mode by pressing the buttons and powering on it just hangs at the first screen.

If you can't fix up the recovery by any other means then applying the China Unicom Gen2 TPT from here may get it working, although you'll lose the entire ROM + all your data.
Guest doogsville Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 Phew! Finally fixed it. I used TPT to finally boot into ClockworkMod. Then a few minutes of panic cos I thought I'd bricked it. The opposite problem occured and it wouldn't boot back into the system, just ClockworkMod. I tried a factory reset and a few other things and nothing worked. In the end I put the Cyanogenmod 7 zip onto the SD card from my laptop using a card reader and installed it. Now I have a usable Blade with no unescessary programs and crap on it! Mind you, it took me another five minutes to figure out how to switch the default language back from Chinese to English again.
