mac address change problem

Original tutorial:

well, just changed it:

in the data/misc/wifi folder you have a file called athSavedEeprom.bin

pull it out, use a hex editor to change one bit of the MAC written there, push it back, and restart the phone.

after restart, new MAC.

This not working.

Current rom: CM7-7.1.0-RC1-Blade-KANG-n179-1653p3 , cache redirect ram

cache redirect = any reboot re-generate athSavedEeprom.bin

That must mean mac address is stored elsewhere and changing that file doesnt change the mac address. Wonder if anyone knows where the actual mac address is read from...
