Partition problem and question

I recently had an issue with my sd card that meant having to get another. I put a partition in the card but by mistake only gave it 512mb instead of 1gb.

Is there any way of moving the partition without a format?

If not can I back up the cards contents on my pc and then partition again with a format and simply copy the contents back on my pc?

I want to be sure :)

yes you can change the partission size without reformatting the sdcard, but yes you would have to back up your sdcard content to your pc, as it will wipe your sdcard content, just repartission in cwm, and put back on your sdcard the files you backed up :)
