Guest yadayada Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 (edited) Optimus (portugal) has release the 2.2 update. It is available here: http://other.static....ateTool_2.2.zip A little background from Optimus: France Telecom (Orange) has a minority share in optimus (20%), and they are the "technological partner" of Optimus. All branded phones (or most of them) are rehashed from Orange. If you look inside the apps folder of the 2.1 rom from Optimus, you will see several Orange apks. All of this to say, that probably Orange might be releasing a 2.2 update after all. -- How can I extract the files from the update .exe? I tried to use 7-zip to open the .exe file, but it doesn't seem to be a self extracting zip file.. I would like to see exactly what it brings before considering updating. [update] I manage to find something in: C:\Windows\sysdy [update 2] full build.prop: http://pastebin.com/aG2HrAEX Highlights: ro.build.id=FRF91 ro.build.display.id=OPT_P729BV2.0.0B03 ro.build.version.release=2.2.2 ro.build.date=Tue Jun 28 02:36:49 HKT 2011 ro.product.model=Optimus San Francisco ro.product.brand=ZTE ro.product.name=P729B_ORANGE_PT Edited September 17, 2011 by yadayada
Guest tmmp Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Have you tryed it? does this convert your device to Gen2 or do they stay has Gen1?
Guest yadayada Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Have you tryed it? does this convert your device to Gen2 or do they stay has Gen1? I haven't tried it, yet, but I'm considering it. From what I read from the portuguese forums it does upgrade the device to "gen2". Just like all the other 2.2 official upgrades. So the fastboot/TPT function should be removed after updating. But from reading: I get the idea that you can reactivate the fastboot/TPT. And in the end you don't lose nothing. (but i might be wrong...)
Guest tmmp Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) But in that case it doesn't seem to have any advantage against using the tpt method that it exists here in the forum because it already does everything for you, it transforms the Gen1 to Gen2 and fastboot/recovery is enable so not really sure it's a good ideia :P If you actually do that please post your experience, and tell me if you had better reception, I used the method from here and my reception improved a lot, is your Blade still Gen1? Guest yadayada Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) I received my Optimus San Francisco and update it to 2.2 works fine but i can root it using all the androot and so on, just getting error reading package... can you help Sorry, but I didn't understand your problem. You are unable to root the phone with androot? Or you can root it and the problem is.....? Anyway I can't really help with that, my san francisco is 100% stock (un-rooted). If your problem is rooting the phone, I'm almost certain there is some app in the market to root gen2 devices. But if you feel comfortable, maybe you can try this guide: http://wiki.cyanogen...g_the_ZTE_Blade ! At your own risk ! ------- BTW, for all with Optimus San Francisco phones, ZTE has released an online update tool: http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/endata/mobile/Portugal/Portugal_SoftWare/201110/P020111028408554236598.zip'>http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/endata/mobile/Portugal/Portugal_SoftWare/201110/P020111028408554236598.zip The firmware available there is slighty newer (OPT_P729BV2.0.0B04) then the one at optimus website. ps: It is still android 2.2.2. http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/endata/mobile/Portugal/ Edited November 1, 2011 by yadayada
