if you've updated you're rom to a custom rom, your phone is already rooted :) download root check from market and that will verify this for you.

You have to install Vache's Recovery 2.2 from this forum.

Download SuperUser 2.3.6 from

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828

and put on SD.

Enter Recovery and flash the zip file

You have to install Vache's Recovery 2.2 from this forum.

Download SuperUser 2.3.6 from

http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=682828

and put on SD.

Enter Recovery and flash the zip file

android 2.3.4 + Vache 2.2

i flash the zip file 2.3.6.1 and i get this error

"Wrong digest: META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script

E: verification failed"

edit: solved, i had to disable "Toggle signature verify" under Other recovery menu

Oh god I think I stuffed up. SuperUser keeps crashing on me..

What I've done so far:

1. Installed Vache 2.2 Recovery app

2. Put SuperUser on SD card

3. Loaded Recovery mode, and then flashed from ZIP.

4. Rebooted

5. Installed Busybox from Market. When I run it it says it was not allowed Root access because there was an issue with Superuser.

Basically I'm following the instructions from:

http://android.modac...ow-to-root-234/

I'm using Gingerbread 2.3.5

So, it looks like I'm being denied root access. Is there a way to start all over again? I can't even remove SuperUser as it does not allow uninstallation and any app that requires root access causes SU to crash.

Any help will be appreciated.

try to install SUPERUSER from the market and start it.

Done that already. In fact I installed SuperUser before attempting to install Vache Recovery to flash the zip file. Is that in the wrong order, or does that not really matter?

EDIT:

nevermind. It appears that SuperUser recently got a market update to V3 (Sept 26). It now no longer crashes on my device!
