I don't think it needs to be ported and should just install as detailed be geexbox, I'll give it a try before installing 9n and report back.

ive just tried it and the kernel gets to "os will cold boot in 10s if no input detected" then it hangs/crashes any ideas?

Did you swap out the provided geebox kernel with the Vega one? Suspect the provided kernel is of no use as it won't have Vega specific code in it.... Could be this would fail too but I suspect you'd have a better shot of it booting...
