OSF locked after pattern code rejected

My daughter's OSF would not accept her usual pattern code unlock, so after she tried many times its completely locked and asking for her google details, she has entered them and no luck, she did not have wifi or 3g on at the time so that could be why. I've had a good look around to find a solution, it would appear the only way will be to reflash the phone. Only I've never done this before or have no clue where to start, could any kind techie person please help guide me through the process if this is the way to go, she's not bothered about losing everything, she just wants her phone back. You can still phone it but nothing else. Thanks so much in advance.

There are two options that I can see.

1. You install a custom recovery application (ClockworkMod), which allows you to perform the factory reset. This will get the phone back to first state.

2. Take this opportunity to upgrade to a custom rom, which will give the phone better performance, battery life and features for free, as well as reset it to clear the lock.

Both options should allow the phone to redownload contacts that were synced to the original google account, and photos stored on the sdcard will be preserved.

i used method3 TPT and had to istall GEN1, then upgraded to GEN2

used first custom rom version in post, then Cyanogenmod7 last stable version

i hope it will help you, and dont be afraid about flashing, i had to flash more time becouse used wrong gen, so no problem it can be flashed many times :)
