Guest me00lpw Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Hi, I recently updated my ROM from Cyanogen Mod 7.0.3 to Cyanogenmod ZTE Blade Nightly 179. I am having a problem where when trying to move apps to the SD card I get a message saying: "Move application. Failed to move application. Ther is not enough storage left.". My SD card is formated with a normal (FAT?) partition and a EXT(3?), partition (2GB) made in clockwork mod recovery mode. I know there is plenty of space on the FAT partition and I have no idea how to check the EXT parition. However, when I suspected the EXT partition might have become full I repartitioned it (2GB again with a 0MB swap size) in recovery mode. I'm left with no idea as to how Android is now telling me I have no space to move my apps to SD card. Any ideas? Thanks
Guest doogsville Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 The same thing happens to me with 179, but only with apps I backed up using Titanium backup before I flashed the new ROM. They were all apps I had moved to the SD card already, before installing CM7, so I suspect they are already on the SD card, but are mistakenly being reported as still being on the phone. I could probably work out wether they are on the phone of SD card with a bit of arithmetic, but frankly I can't be bothered. I also thought about uninstalling them and reinstalling them, but once again apathy took hold.

Guest me00lpw Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Hmmm, after seeing this post, I installed a new App and it automatically installed to the SD card. So it looks like new apps can be intalled to the SD card. The ones I can't move were backed up using MyBackup Root. The MyBackup Root restored programs aren't being reinstalled to the SD card as I now have aprox 70MB less free space on the internal storeage than before (and I have avoided installing several large i.e. 15MB - 25MB apps which were previously installed when I was reporting aprox 130MB free space vs. aprox 50MB now. Haven't looked into S2E yet, as this is looking like some other kind of problem at the moment. Guest me00lpw Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 OK, so I've had a chance to try S2E now and immediately I've been able to free an EXTRA 110MB. I'm now up to aprox 175MB free. Excellet, now we'll see if over the comming days and weeks my programs continue to work normally. S2E will move apps and dalvik cache to ext partition https://market.andro...d=ru.krikun.s2e

Guest me00lpw Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Done. Was previously set to automatic. What exactly do the different options do? I would have thought I need to set it to external rather than internal, but I have taken your advise and set it to internal. Thanks Don't forget to set Settings->CMSettings->Application->Install Location to Internal
Guest me00lpw Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 Just a quick post to say I'm very happy with Cyanogenmod ZTE Blade Nightly 179 and S2E. My Blade runs nicely and I have adequate space for apps leaving me a happy chappie for the time beeing. Thanks for everyone's help.
