Guest Jacobyte Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 All, DSG appears to have increased to the price of a Vega by £30. Amazing considering it's now been in the market for best part of a year and the other tablet prices are tumbling. Has Vegacomb breathed new life into the Vega and allowed a price increase? Jacobyte

Guest Adam:) Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 On the Currys & Dixons website. Vega used to be £199 now its £229 hmmm, thats is quite interesting must be because of vc.
Guest IanTurner Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 Ha doubt it.most vega owners haven't heard of vegacomb. Its not available for home delivery so i'd say limited supply, exchange rate and the like
Guest Jacobyte Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 Vega is at end of life and it's price should be going down not up.. I think something is driving sales...

No definite replacement announced yet so could be a shortage of lcd panels or suchlike as there's probably Less of a margin on the vega than the higher priced devices
Guest ursulavasey Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 No definite replacement announced yet so could be a shortage of lcd panels or suchlike as there's probably Less of a margin on the vega than the higher priced devices I think that this 15% price increase will discourage people from buying the Vega, and picking up the remaining stock. It's a fairly open secret that the Vega is going to be superseded by a Vega 2 (or a tablet by some other name). If they want to offload what they have left, they will have to reduce the price, or at least maintain it at the £200 level, otherwise the ones that are left will simply not sell. My partner has bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7in original version for £250, which is close to the current price of the Vega.
Guest shutdown Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 a guy at work tried to order one on thursday. he was told that there are none in any stores nearby for pickup but to wait as a new vega will be out in three weeks
Guest warriorscot Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 I was under the impression that the lower price was them trying to offload a lot of reconditioned units they probably don't have any of those left.
Guest worto03 Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 I was under the impression that the lower price was them trying to offload a lot of reconditioned units they probably don't have any of those left. They weren't reconditioned that was a separate deal on the dsg ebay outlet - this is about the actual retail boxed sealed 12 month warranty units, very odd that it's gone back up - especially if the new one is imminent - you'd think they would want to get rid of the v1's?
Guest Maxwell4321 Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 (edited) Standard sales trick - They put up a price for a certain period of time and if they sell any at the new higher price its a bonus but they really dont care whether they do or not as it is designed so that in the upcoming 'Autumn Sale' they can legally say "Save £30 on this - was £229 now just £199" Th UK rules surrounding sales has a minimum period that the product must be sold at the higher price in a certain percentage of stores within the chain Edited September 25, 2011 by Maxwell4321
Guest IanTurner Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 (edited) Good point. That's a Halfords trick. They have to list when this price existed that they are discounting I think (e.g on Halfords bike descriptions it says "*Higher price charged between 14/06/2011 & 04/07/2011.") In fact check the front page of pcworld where for a discounted HP Pavilion laptop it says "(£479.99 from 21/07/11 to 14/09/11) " Edited September 25, 2011 by IanTurner
Guest Siskris Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 covers the time at which goods can be shown at a reduced price. Guidelines suggest 28 days at full price then 6 months at he reduce price, I think. Chances are that the 6 months have run out, let's see what happens in a fortnight or so.
Guest IanTurner Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 And just in time for Christmas DSG have dropped the price to an unbeatable (well since the last time anyway) £199 <_<
