Guest RenegadeAndy Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Hey folks! I got my vega last xmas - installed whatever rom modaco recommended at the time - and didnt use it until a couple of days ago!! I finally decided I need the tablet again - and have tried to install Vegacomb. I downloaded it and put the zip on the sdcard - I had the clockwork recovery mod installed so I booted into recovery - said apply zip from sd card - selected the vegacomb zip and it said all was complete. Now when i try to boot i get the warning about vegacomb being free and if you paid you have been scammed followed by the vegacomb animation - and the animation never seems to end.....so I think something has gone wrong. Can anyone offer a bit of advice on what my next steps are!?

You install the modded stock ROM by following the full software update instruction at Myadventvega Edited September 26, 2011 by lesd

Guest lesd Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 Ok so I followed : http://android.modaco.com/topic/340184-beginnersnon-techie-guide-to-installing-vegacomb/ However - my vega still sits on the booting animation - and never actually starts!? Help! First of all, it's very important to ensure your Vega is properly charged and plugged in when you're doing this. Secondly, the memory in your Vega contains bad blocks, and some versions of Vegacomb may not install because there isn't room for all the bad block and Vegacomb. Vegacomb version 9 is smaller than previous versions. Try version 9n first, and if that doesn't work try version 9b. Version 9b partitions the memory so that a lot more of it is set aside for the Vegacomb ROM.
Guest simonta Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 The must likely problems are that you have not cleared the caches or you need to try modded stock v1 and v2. It's all in the install instructions on tabletroms.

Guest Paranor Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Have you tried with modded stock v1 and v2? Just be aware that some Vegas will not work with Vegacomb at all, doesnt matter which way you try and install. Its disapointing, but theres not much we can do about it.

Several people have run into the kind of problems you describe because they installed modded stock then installed the Vegacomb update 3b or 3n. You need to install modded stock version 1 or version 2, then the Vegacomb rom, then the update 3. If you use Vegacomb 3b, you need to use update 3b, and if you use Vegacomb 3n, you need to install update 3n, as the two versions don't mix. Make sure you clear the data, wipe the cache and wipe the Dalvik cache (found in advanced) after installing the modded stock and before installing Vegacomb. There is no need to wipe between installing Vegacomb and installing the update.

Should be fine to learn from other's errors ! I had to go back to my post ( in the other forum ) to recognise that last time ( September )I had to clear cache and dalvick-cache BEFORE GOING OUT FROM CWM RECOVERY to have a clean boot. Will try again tomorrow morning. Regards Alessandro
