Will the £199 Kindle Fire badly affect sales of the Vega?

The Kindle Fire was launched today, based on Android, and at £199 do you think it will affect sales of the Vega?

It is only 7", but the custom apps on top of the Appstore (but not Google apps), look pretty impressive.

It will be interesting how this pans out.

Anyone know what version of Android is under the hood?

i think its running google 2- something, but will come with multitasking.

Im not sure how much it will affect the vega though, but they are both different devices made for different reasons. :P

No indication of a release date outside the US so the vega 2 might appear before then

Word is won't make it to the UK in the near future because it relies on Amazon Cloud service which isn't available outside the US.

Given that there are no Vegas left to sell, and the Vega was one of the first Tegra2 tablets available, and that Kal-el (Tegra 3) tablets are just emerging, and that Newbe5 twittered some time ago that DSG had some interesting stuff coming up, I'd say No, the Kindle fire will not affect sales of the Vega if the Vega is no longer for sale.I don't thing it will affect sales of the Vega replacement either, because its in a different class. - I hope.

I really like the kindle fire but it would have been massively better with the addition of a USB or micro USB and an SD card slot as that way it wouldn't be so tethered to the cloud. And amazon cloud isn't that great if it doesn't have 3G.

just to add my 50pence, bbc breakfast news this very morning had a article on these kindle fires.... we will get it... just gonna be a while, so hold your pennies people, another contender in the tablet ring steps up, and I have to say looking like value for money.

I Imagine it will thrash the vega because no doubt it will have a better build quality and be alot more friendly to the average user. Plus Amazon will market the tits of it

also its running 2.3
