Guest Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 Good day oh wise and knowledgeable sages... A litttle help would be greatly appreciated. I successfully installed RC8 prebaked onto my Vega and have been completely happy with almost everything it brought. Almost. For some reason I am unable to hear any sound when attempting to watch videos through Media Player or Mobo Player. They are AVI files that work fine on my PC. I have installed the Mobo codec pack and video playback seems to be very clean. I am able to watch YouTube videos with sound, if that is of any use at all, and all other sounds on the Vega seem to work correctly i.e. notifications. Any ideas???
Guest dibbles Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 I imagine that someone with more knowledge and experience will offer better advice but AFAIK the RC8 is quite an old ROM to be using now. If you do want a Froyo ROM then Corvus 1 (with SP1) is much newer and considered to be very good. There is also a Gingerbread nightly release ROM. This one isn't often mentioned but is also very capable. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012609 Then the VegaComb 3.2 build 9n update 3 is an excellent Honeycomb ROM which is working very well. http://tabletroms.com/forums/vega-rom-development/1923-%5Brom%5D-%5B3-2%5D-vegacomb-3-2-build-5-a.html I have used the same player and codec pack that you have noted, but not on the RC8 ROM, and I do remember it working fine with avi files as I was playing several of them not long ago.
Guest IanTurner Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 (edited) Download gspot and use it identify what video and audio encoding is being used as avi is a container format and does not indicate how it's encoded. Then post the results here. Changing the OS is unlikely to help as you've already tried mobo player and added additional codecs. Edited October 2, 2011 by IanTurner

Guest IanTurner Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 Are you sure that there's no sound rather than a rather low volume as I've found with rips of DVDs that you need external speakers or headphones to hear anything clearly
Guest BiggerH Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 have you tried playing the files with Rockplayer - if I ever have problems with avi files, Rockplayer tends to play them ok.
Guest Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 Rock Player fixed the issue, thanks for the tips people :)
