Bug: Battery exhausted and failing to recharge

SYMPTOM:

I was playing an mpeg file and the battery ran out - the phone shut down and just flashed as in standby.

I plugged the phone into cradle to charge (yes the power lead was in) and it failed to indicate it was charging, so I tried using just the charger no joy.

As a last resort I disconnected the battery, reconnected and it started charging ok.
