Guest philly o Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 (edited) hello everybody think this is my first although i'm adfree and have been using this site for a while. i have a problem with a blade i have purchased 2nd hand. when i got it was pattern locked on the stock orange 2.1 rom. so i installed clockworkmod and flashed CAE1.3 after upgrading to it to a gen2 phone. the problem is now i think the phone was locked to orange when i did this so is possibly still sim locked and i cant get my giffgaff sim to work in it!! hope that makes sense any suggestions phil #FIXED# the problem was caused by the phone being blacklisted on the orange network this is now lifted and working fine!! Since you mentioned that its a second hand Zte Blade, just a open-ended question - did the network block that handset's IMEI by any chance?

Since you mentioned that its a second hand Zte Blade, just a open-ended question - did the network block that handset's IMEI by any chance? well.... thanks for the quick reply btw. i couldnt unlock the handset as it was pattern locked when i got it requiring me to sign in to google (but the phone was unable connect to the internet) as far as i'm aware the person was selling the phone for the child who had accidentely locked the phone. phil

Guest t0mm13b Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 (edited) Use TPT method to get rid of it and re-flash the whole handset again from scratch. :) or... use this thread to get rid of the pattern unlock which is more involved. Well you sort of went off an angle about pattern lock which you left the impression that it was that, that was the issue....anyway :) Two suggestions: try a different sim card, and see what happens, it should prompt you to enter a network unlock code which I've highlighted in the previous posting in #2 above.If that fails, try jiggling the sim card a bit, sometimes the thickness of it could prevent the handset from reading from the sim card (or it could be slightly thinner), maybe apply a bit of tiny piece of cardboard on top of it, (not too thick mind you) and see if that puts the pressure on the sim -card slot itself to force a reading.... :)
Guest hahawas Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 Custom roms should be network unlocked anyway o_O. But try and do what t0mm suggested and try a different sim card. You could try installing a different rom but it would be unlikely that the rom is the issue

Guest philly o Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 ok ive tried several things since last post> i have flashed the phone back to gen1 and installed swedish spring RLS5 and inserted a new orange sim which recieves a signal but still wont let me make calls to 450 the topup line ( the phone just says call ended instantly after pressing call) i have also tried my giffgaff sim card which i use in my other zte blade. so im really confused now as to why i cant make phone calls also still receieving 'network or sim card error' even on orange which the phone came with anyone know what would happen if you brought a new OSF and installed a new rom with out unlocking the phone first? phil
