Guest Farquea Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 i've installed ginger stir fry and now trying to paste back my 2 Angry birds data folders in the data folder on my phone but in astro, es file explorer it says the directory is empty when i navigate to it. Now i thought that by rotting your phone once and installing custom roms meant it was permanently rooted but with the directory being "empty" it sounds as if it isnt. So in what do i need to do in order to be able to see the directory properly?
Guest hugobosslives Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 nah just being rooted means nothing to do with being able to see these folders. you need an app that can use the root to see the folder. astro cannot do this. I use root explorer. If you grant it root it will be able to "see" all the folders. AND if you enable the root write function you will able to edit these folders aswell

I see that you have to pay for root explorer. i copied the files off my phone when i was using swedishspring a month or so ago but cant remember what app i used but ive never used anything other than es file explorer, astro and filer. I've tried with the first 2 tonight to paste the files but i cant find filer in the market (it came with ss if i recall) so is there a way for me to paste these 2 folders without paying for root explorer? Ok just found "root explorer" option in ES File Explorer so maybe i copied them using this. only problem is i enabled it and it warns about it being experimental and didnt work. So maybe it worked is Swedishspring and not in GSF? Edited October 4, 2011 by Farquea
Guest hugobosslives Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 yer, es explorer does have a root mode. havn't used it in ages so can't remember how to make it work. what are you trying to do? you will be able to do it for free don't worry. android is all about free total control of your phone. you could push it across with adb if you know where it's going....

I've just loaded angry birds tho and it does work but wouldnt mind changing the permissions for peace of mind if you know how to do that?
